Could someone explain to me that out of bounds review?

First of all, congrats Duke. Great season. You beat us twice. I do not want to sound like I am blaming the refs. I mean, obviously, I will forever believe the refs cost us that game in my heart, but my head tells me I am just a huge homer (which I am).

But could someone please explain to me how that review works? I remember a key out of bounds review last year against Arizona in the Elite 8, where Wisconsin was given the ball, but after review they gave it to Arizona. In that review, I remember they did not even have a shot of the Wisconsin player's hand touching the ball, they just used the fact that the ball's rotation changed slightly to call it out on Wisconsin.

So, how in the world does Duke get to keep the ball when there are TWO angles that show a Duke player's finger on the ball? How the hell does this happen? And no, I do not think the refs were "payed off" or "bias". Maybe incompetent, but not payed off.

Also, please don't let this devolve into a thread just blaming the refs and talking about their ever missed call. I just want to figure out how this particular call went the way it did, because if the refs aren't getting all the camera angles or something, that needs to change immediately.

Seriously guys, lets try to be adults here.

Thanks, and again, congrats Duke (you bastards).

It did appear to me that Winslow got a fingernail to it. However the officials deemed it not enough to overturn and by rule the call had to stand.

I would assume they had the same camera angels we had watching it on television (as they should) but we can't be sure of that... So that could have played a role in it as well

That's the thing though. It did not "appear" Winslow got a finger on it. It SHOWED that Winslow got a finger on it. A person's finger does not bend backwards like that completely independent of the rest of his hand unless it hits something.

college basketball replay is awful and they usually botch it. they overturn calls they shouldn't and don't on ones they should on a nightly basis during the regular season

only in slowmo did I really see it. It didn't move as much as people thought it did... I am sure in the next few days we will hear a report as to why it was called the way it was

They reviewed the call and missed it. Plain and simple.

There's no telling what would've happened if it was reversed and that's what sucks about calls of that magnitude.

his finger bent back. fingers don't just do that. it was quite obvious

before it was touched by a Wisconsin player.... then it went off Winslows fingertip imo

and that, plus the winslow stepping OB. plus the winslow to chargers. plus koenig elbowed in the face as a defensive foul got a little hard to swallow

Another serious question. College refs DO get payed, right? This isn't some sort of volunteer thing, correct?

Let's not go down that road in this thread, my friend. That path only leads to the Dark Side

College refs are trash.

Only logical way to explain it

Refs definitely blew that call. However, the fouls called on Wisconsin in the 2nd half were correct IMO.

Here's what I assume went down.

Group of officials get together. They all watch the video. Group works like a jury in that they need all members to be on the same page.

One doucher says "I can't see no evidence dat no ball went off of da bwue team."

Other refs say, "Okay, we don't all agree that the ball went off of Duke. We must stay with the original call."

Duke were the more aggressive team.

They were driving like hell in the 2nd half.

Wisconsin attempted 10 more 3's than Duke did.

Can't expect to get calls when you're on the perimeter chucking up 3's

The non charge call was also BS, don't get me wrong there is no team I dislike more than Wisconsin but they got hosed in this one IMO. Oh and I lost 1000 hoop cash dammit!
