I thought Kivy could not sign a contract in the KHL for at least a year following his leaving the NHL. I believe that this is a two way rule?

I'm pretty sure because Kovalchuk and the Devils both agreed to the retirement that Kovalchuk is allowed to do as he pleases. If Kovy tried to retire and the Devils said "fuck off" then they could make it to where he isn't allowed to go to the KHL for a year.

At least that's what I think lol.
