He did not purposely turn and smack the police officer.

I just don't see what the big deal is. I see a fight damn near every time I go down to the bars.............I've also seen the police get in quite the scuffles and they rarely come out of it unmarked.

This is just another average night downtown. Why is this so out of the ordinary?!

The only reason I was criticizing his actions is because it was extremely dumb to be doing that with his future on the line.

He's not some average joe who can afford to get in a tussle, go to jail and then go right back to pumpin' gas or swinging a hammer.

He was a potential 2nd round draft pick. It's millions and millions of dollars he lost. You saw what happened. He damn near didn't get drafted.

I think you are really being naive about how an NFL franchise operates and sees things.

These are multi million dollar investments. The people who make these decisions... Their jobs depend on it. Dennard's behavior is a huge red flag, regardless of whether they personally thought he would do anything like it again.

On the off chance he did continue to have character issues, their own job is put in jeopardy for their decision to invest in the young man.

You're acting like these teams have nothing to lose and should take a gamble on someone who is getting arrested a week before the draft.

You habitually ridicule and condemn anyone or anything that says or does anything that you feel detracts from the Husker program, players or coaches even if it as simple as someone doesn't feel we will be better next year or yes if someone feels a player did something stupid.

You have done it to me several times simply because I disagree with your viewpoint. I am a Nebraska fan, I have been all my life and will be the rest of my life. But I don't have to define fan as not recognizing short comings in the program, players or coaches. If this is what is required by you than file it with your "real man" definition.

As for creating drama what exactly did you expect from your OP. The NFL has not been sitting there waiting for the media to tell them what to do.

There is reason for concern. In Dennard's case the bowl game 4 months ago. I know he didn't start it but a player in control of himself would not have responded. Everyone knows the one who retaliates is usually the one to get called. He cost his team big because he could not control himself. And now this. I don't care if he was in a fight or not. You don't swing on a uniform.

Expand it beyond this and you have Suh going to the NFL and gaining a reputation as a dirty player (stomping on the guy closed the book for me though I know you still defend him) and Pelini's sideline antics (out of control anger) creating questions about what kind of players Nebraska will be putting out.

Yeah the media sees this and reports it but it is there for the NFL to see also. Just because they have the same questions or concerns doesn't mean one has their head up the ass of the other. And just because they (and I) don't see it like you doesn't mean they or I am less of a man than you.

Again, he didn't drop to the 7th round just because of the cop incident.
He had a terrible senior bowl week, the combine was not good, his best season was 2 seasons ago when he had a stud CB opposite him, and few teams utilize a press man physical CB. The options on teams were low.

Get over it. He is on a great team that had WRs that were playing CB last year so they needed the bodies. He will be an ok player and have a decent career.
