I wonder what is driving the spike in betting?

Just odds. It's a value bet. If the Skins were even money no one would bet on that.

To be specific the defense was tops in the league on 3rd down and they have basically added Chase, Mathis, Forbes, and Quan

That and this has to be the weakest I've seen the NFC in a long time.

Not saying this about you, but last year they made the playoffs and advanced under a first year head coach. They got better over the offseason with a solid draft and free agent class. They seem to be a punching bag on the board and I can't figure out why.

Talked to a friend about the qb situation in the nfc vs afc and it's brutal.

I just like our roster a little bit better. Missed the playoffs by a game with QB that couldn't make all the throws and another one that wet the bed every time we needed him to step up. That and Bienemy hopefully being an upgrade from Scott Turner mind numbing calls in the red zone or running double reverses for a 10 yard loss on 3rd and 1.

We'll see.

Betting odds are this time next year we have a new name, front office, and coach. That's said, there is a lot that could go right this year, and if it does, I don't think playoff berth is out of the question. I am adult, though. I see the holes on this team. Shit could get ugly, and Bienemy could be the HC by mid Thanksgiving.

Never understood gambling on sports...or gambling in general.
Especially something that you literally have no control over. I cannot see a reason to place a bet on this team with so many questions. There is a reason why Vegas and casinos make so much money. To each their own I guess.

Although like you I am not a gambler some of my closest friends love to gamble. The the thrill to them is having money on the line.

Surely you know the guys in Vegas that set the lines have a clue.

I think the SportsHoopla around the new ownership, a good defense and good weapons is why is driving the betting line on the Skins. It will likely drop back down ... depending on how the betting goes.

Some of these guys it is part of their income but they have to be able to back of thousands of dollars in one weekend.

Vegas sets a line for them to win, it can change during the year.

I agree the battle for the 6th and 7th seed should be us, Seattle, Vikes, Falcons, and Giants. We play the Giants twice, Falcons, and Seattle this year.

I think you may be misinterpreting my original post. Based on the odds the public thinks the Skins are a good bet. Now of course the public is usually wrong but to be the #1 bet was striking to me.

We were popular last year with the over win total bet. We beat it by a half of game. The Bears under there win total was also popular. Both bets hit. So the public and fans were right about these two.

TB? what? that's a longshot. I went Saints b/c they have the best QB. For some reason Vegas likes Atlanta.

TB was the best team in the division last season but I did forget Carr went to NO.

I still think its Howells position to lose. Howell would have to really bomb in pre-season for not to be the week 1 starter. the players are already hyping Howell in TC.

What's McVay's contract situation in LA? McVay would probably want full control and the way he ships 1st round picks out the door would give me pause.

Of course, the schedule is tough this year b/c as of right now the NFC East and AFC East (which we play this year) are the strongest divisions right now on paper. But we did beat Philly and Dallas last year and were in the games with the Giants. If Howell is just average this year, we should be fine b/c of our defense.
