I don't see you as a malcontent. But you were suggesting that folks should stop talking about a topic they want to talk about. None of us have that power nor should we. If you don't like it just pass it by.

I am not going to comment on Chill other than to say I do not see him the same way you do.
That is a good point. I don't have the right to demand threads be ended or topics change. I agree with you.

In my defense, I could not have been more respectful. I said "please", "go for it", and "best of luck". This was not combative at all. This is a much more peaceful approach than when I was literally told to "leave" by a poster. The approaches could not be more different.

The bottom line, the sunshine and rainbows mentality has driven away posters. I would like these folks to come back and tried to convince a few, but I can see the frustration. I have had to take breaks because I get tired of the steady dose of propaganda as well.

When the conversation is literally the same for the past 5 years at least in the preseason, it becomes irritating and comes off as agenda posting. Unfortunately, the mentality can spread and it is very off-putting. Nobody wants to talk to someone who is stubborn and continues to repeat the same thing over and over again.

I am not going to call out a specific poster or posters about it. I have made my peace and personally apologized to one poster to clear the air and make sure I had done my part to keep harmony on the board. If offense was taken at any point, I wanted to make sure I had apologized. Personal attacks are uncalled for and I was guilty of that.

Like PDay said...we literally cannot get out of our own way. I find it sad but truthful...and it stings even more coming from a Cowboy fan.

Before the thread gets hijacked goes in the weeds. My remarks have NOTHING to do with Skinsdad.

He is the best mod on these boards
He is welcoming and fosters an atmosphere where everyone is urged to post their opinion
He is helpful, knowledgeable, and quite frankly....kind
He is the glue of the board
He is what a mod should aim to be
He is the main reason the board is so successful
He is respectful and professional at all times

We are darn lucky to have him!

Look for the record you should be able to talk about what you want related to football here . So let’s get away from that if we can . As for chiller we know what his online persona is

I don't even gamble. Lol. Just thought it was interesting that Joe Public thinks Vegas is wrong about us. Didn't know the topic of gambling was taboo on this board considering all the other stuff that is debated here. Wasn't going to stop me anyway.

I have made my peace and personally apologized to one poster to clear the air and make sure I had done my part to keep harmony on the board. That being said, being called out for "not betting" on the team to back up my predictions is out of line. I also am not going to be reprimanded for not being a "true" fan when I am simply using common sense.

Like PDay said...we literally cannot get out of our own way. I find it sad but truthful...and it stings even more coming from a Cowboy fan.
look what has made this board successful? Vigorous debate.
People that leave don’t want to engage in debate . They take things too personally,
if you are a fan and you get so upset about a topic being discussed that you take your ball and go home, what can be done about that ?
not one board in this forum that’s successful doesn’t engage in debate . All of them do .
I see this board like the barber shop back in the day , people talking shit about topics ( mostly sports )
the problem is some people think it’s perfectly fine to fight to the proverbial death for their POV ( which is ok ) but stop acting like people with the other view points can’t do the same
as far as I am concerned if your debating skills start with name calling or leaving in a huff then your POV doesn’t hold water
win in the arena of ideas
If you aren’t into debate then fine don’t engage in debate , no one cares what you do or don’t do
the politics board is the most active board on SportsHoopla . It’s about extreme debate .
most people want to be told what to do , how to think and act , some people question everyone and everything
Most don’t like being wrong and almost never admit it when they are .
some of these guys who “leave “ come right back here when they think they have an edge only to find out their edge turns to urine when time and facts come to light
some come back to engage in football
bottom line is if you are too sensitive you can’t take vigorous debate , if you are so easily offended that you can’t stay here then so be it
somebody else will take your place even mine

Naw....I have only said that since he was hired. I gain nothing from accumulating converts and i am not driving off posters. Those are the main differences.

I couldn't care less if people believe it or not. Anyone can do a simple search of Ron Rivera and use common sense. I post on different topics and love to talk about a variety of issues surrounding the team.

I would easily beat chiller or gkeoka as the malcontent if a poll had us all included. Calling chiller the board malcontent is laughable. Even he has told me to keep my chin up during the dark days of the team...which is every year.

Chiller is one of the smartest posters on the board. That is why he is given a tough time. His intelligence intimidates people IMO. He hated snyder the same as everybody else and pulls for the team more than I do.

That is a good point. I don't have the right to demand threads be ended or topics change. I agree with you.

I think your fine. Remember no one has to agree with you and others will agree with you.

I made the RR comment only to show that sometimes people post things over and over. Many will agree with this and a few won't. When we came from ESPN to hear and needed a moderator dad was clearly the guy most people wanted. I admire him because he doesn't lose his cool. He will debate, argue but he is never/rarely a dick about it. dad and I don't agree on everything but that is okay, I think we respect each other.

This is not to piss down your leg but sometimes your comments are the same over and over. At the same time you post some valuable insights. I would caution this way .... not everyone is supposed to think like you. Nor are you supposed to think like everyone else. Have fun, debate where you want. I could argue lots of posts but I let a lot go.

I think we are in a new era that most of us have wanted for a long time. The turd is gone. The fanbase never left they just tired of the turd. I am excited again. I don't feel like I am pulling a HUGE sled up hill to root for the team. When is the last time any of us felt like this?

I would also say we all have different beliefs in how things are done and some have football experience and some are fans. But I think we are all here to be fans of the team. :D

I actually agreed with you on the RR thing. I have lightened up I feel or at least trying to.

In all honesty, I believe a lot of it is driven to counterbalance the other point of view that refuses to acknowledge the reality of the situation or at least the history concerning the matter. At the end of the day, regardless of intent, any point that is brought up time and time again will eventually be annoying. I am guilty of this and I admit it. That being said, I post on a number of items..such as the sale of the team. The other party literally posts the same thing..over and over and over.

The other side of the coin is different and there is no attempt to become less annoying, there is no attempt to curb the constant flow of being a PollyAnna, and there is no attempt look at anything objectively. It has been like that for years and gets worse each year. Now, there is an open attempt to gain congregants.

At the end of the day, anyone has that right. It is best to ignore it or to stay clear. That still doesn't mean it's not annoying.

I will continue to be aware of the attacks on Rivera and am trying to let it go. I get along or like everybody on here...mostly and don't want to irritate anyone. That being said, yes, I am more of a pessimist than chiller, and others.

I agree on Skinsdad..he is awesome.

That Ravens game will be key for Howell. That's the one where the starters will play a lot and it's a national TV game. Additionally, the Ravens treat preseason like the regular season.
Haven't lost a preseason game in forever, right?

Of course, the schedule is tough this year b/c as of right now the NFC East and AFC East (which we play this year) are the strongest divisions right now on paper. But we did beat Philly and Dallas last year and were in the games with the Giants. If Howell is just average this year, we should be fine b/c of our defense.
Yep, but don't want to rely on one or the other. How about good team football. The Oline worries me the most, not Howell.

Right, the interior oline gives me worries also. Leno and Wylie should be fine but you never know.

you have to be wary of what SH is (so far i think he is doing well ) but the o/line is the new LB core . leno is slowing down and wylie and him are in the top 10 in the NFL in blown blocks . i think cosmi has found a home at RG , i think gates is a stop gap center , i think charles has run his course and paul could be something

Yeah the dopamine rush you get from it can be a danger for those who have an addictive personality.
