The Ducks' 22-game regular-season home winning streak against the Flames is one short of the longest such streak in NHL history, set by Philadelphia against Pittsburgh from 1980 to 1987.

And from the other side:

Darren Haynes@DarrenWHaynes
Flames will win tonight because they're 12-0-0 in game 77 since 2002. This gem via Turner Elson groupie @hitthepost.

I really want this curse to end.

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
The #Flames have signed Mark Jankowski (@Janko61) to an entry-level contract.

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
Jankowski's contract will begin in 2016-17 and he will report to Stockton on an amateur try-out agreement.

I'm predicting a re-enactment of the game from 12/8/01.

Engelland will take a run at Gibson and then the Ducks goon du jour will take a run at the Flames goalie and, well you know the rest

The Ducks lose the Cup final 2 years later, the Flames the year after that, then the Ducks win 3 years later and the Flames don't win another playoff round for 11 years?

lol - Not angry, just was waiting for an opportunity to utilize that Ari gif. No complaints about Burkie in his time with the Flames, the team's league wide reputation was damaged under Jay Feaster and I think the combo of BT and BB have done a good job righting the ship.

Liked because I as well like the Ari gif.

But the Burke will do something, someday, and the tears will flow and the tempers boil and by the time it's all said and done you will curse him. This I do promise.

You happy about this dash? I was just saying in the other thread, I think I'd have preferred the compensation pick if I were Calgary. Thoughts? Is there something there that I'm not seeing?

I think it's too early to tell either way, but i think the fact that the Flames brain trust made signing Janko a priority leads me to believe that he has the potential to be a solid NHL player. Who knows if it will come to fruition, but I think I'd rather sign him and roll the dice this way rather than with pick #51.

I guess when I look at a 22 year old NCAA player I expect him to be dominating to be worth as much as a 2nd rounder. This just smells like Freddy The Goat to me, and if I were the Leafs I'd trade him for #51 overall if anyone would offer it (no one would).

I was thinking a couple days ago about how fucking brutally it hurts knowing all the talent that was drafted in the first round in 2013 and the Leafs wound up with fucking Freddy. Like, that round may wind up being one of those rarities where maybe 5 guys don't play 300 NHL games and of course the Leafs will have one of them.

That sucks hard.

Actually Freddy is younger than I thought, so I may have to think about that trade a little more. But I'd definitely consider it.

I suppose that Colborne is another similar guy drafted in the same range, but he's probably not a good comp given that he produced in his freshman and sophomore years similar to what it took Jankowski until his senior year to get to (he was already scoring well in the AHL at the age Jankowski is now and probably would have been crushing the NCAA had he stayed).

Dougie Hamilton has a career season high in goals and points after last night's game (12 and 43 respectively).
