Marner set the precedent in TO
And will again, and despite Mitch being soft as baby shit in the playoffs he’s still probably the better bet long term over Will.

I said to do it last summer and take advantage of him being signed for two entire seasons and play with that cap money but even taking less in trade now it’s still the smart move. Do it and go take someone else’s cap dump winger off their hands for a sixth round pick.

”One night in my first season with New York, I was at the club with a bunch of my Rangers teammates when we ran into a group of players from the New Jersey Devils. One of the Devils’ defencemen, Ken Daneyko, knew Mark Messier from when they were growing up in Alberta. The two of them were chirping each other back and forth.
Suddenly Messier yelled out to Ken, “Hey, this kid can beat you in an arm wrestle!” and he pointed to me.
Ken was a big, strong guy, and as we got set up at the table, his teammates were talking to each other about how quickly he’d beat me. Ken insisted on betting on it, so there was a hundred dollars on the table. Well, I won the first round. And then the second. Then we switched hands and I beat Ken with my left hand, too. I would let him get three-quarters of the way to winning, and then, just when he thought he had me, I’d crank his arm back and slam his hand down to win the round.
Ken got more and more frustrated as we went, and he was doing shots of Jägermeister and tequila the whole time. When he’d finally tired of losing arm-wrestling matches, Ken shouted, “Let’s head-butt!” I really didn’t want to head-butt Ken, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Things didn’t go the way that Ken planned, though, and the next thing you know, he had a massive goose egg on his forehead and I was still standing.
The next time we played New Jersey, I was in the dressing room when Messier approached me with an envelope with my name on it. Inside was a hundred-dollar bill that Ken had sent over. We were all a little nuts back then, but in a good way.”

The Tie Domi friend list just keeps getting weirder. Is he the funniest guy on earth to hang around or something?

So much for all that leadership, Conn Smythe pedigree stuff.

He landed himself in the right environment then, Many times I have expressed shock to Mrs BGD about the environment in Nashville and how things happen that never could in Trawna.

One example, at Bridgestone Arena, the Preds locker room is on one side of a hallway. The players warm up in the hallway and across the hallway is the Lexus Lounge. Players will routinely before the game stroll into the Lounge to grab something to eat. While fans are in the lounge. They just walk in wearing a tshirt and shorts and grab some food. The first time I saw it, my jaw dropped. There would be a riot in Toronto if a player came within touching distance. Honestly, I dont think most of the folks in the Lounge even knew who the players were. Folks just ignored them and let them grab their food. And no, there was no security escorting the players.

Point being, if Ryan wants to grab some pasta before the game, I will make sure no one "spotlights" him lol.

And that's just fine, I have no issue if players just straight up would rather the anonymous life afforded them by non-hockey crazed markets.

I just laugh at all the pundits who went on about his leadership etc. Dude was there for two months and got worn out by the bright lights lol

former Canuck has already been through the Flames, so off to T.O.

Maple Leafs hire former Canucks executive Clancey as assistant general manager

But WTF does this mean?

Jim Rutherford, the Canucks' president of hockey operations, paid tribute to Clancey and his work in a statement. "Derek has been with me since I started in Pittsburgh and is a terrific hockey guy. This is a situation that works well for both the Canucks and Maple Leafs," Rutherford said.

Only way to read that from Jim's perspective is he is really glad that Derek is no longer with the Canucks.
That's some pretty good shade on a hot day.
