I don’t know what’s funnier - that they highlighted that the Leafs’ lack of an all-important third round pick or that Burke during that segment said they should definitely re-sign Kyle Clifford, a move which would give the Leafs their third round pick back at the expense of their second round pick lol

OK all I could find on twitter was a response to Kayla Grey. Getting the gist of it, and wont bother searching further :L

Well fuck, we've got the CRA vs. Tucker & Corson. If they'd kept this out of the sports page like every other tax case being investigated I wouldn't have to wrestle with who to "cheer for" here. Although I'm pretty sure that "the media" is the wrong answer

this was a pretty well known tax strategy, you just couldn't be blatantly obvious about it.
for commodities brokers, they'd get really busy in December. people would buy a very volatile option/future for one month, and sell the same contract for a different month.
close out the loser in this tax year, and take the winner in the next year.
too blatant = buying the same commodity in the same contract month (no economic argument for the trade)
