It also blows my mind that Spezza is kind of winding up his career. I feel like it wasn't that long ago that he was in Junior.

It's still amazing to me that we have JT and Spezza on the Leafs and neither one of them are arguably even our best player. We have at least 4 players in the conversation. Inconceivable...
I mean, Spezza's basically done at this point but, yeah, it's a nice roster right now for the most part.

It's going to be tough until Hyman and Dermott get back though. Fans are going to have to keep their cool if they stumble a bit out of the gate. Freddy might have to play on his head. I have concern about the bottom six and especially the third line so long as they're trying to get Kapanen to play LW in Hyman's stead. Ceci is going to play big minutes. There's a lot of worries here.

But if they can get through that, and Matthews stays healthy, and Marner & JT combine for that same magic...hoo boy.

BizNasty tweeted out the following in response to the above video clip...

That’s Calder Cup champion Scott Sabourin. He was my line mate in the AHL. Someone tell Pablo to show some respect to the depth players.

Pablo has a chance of sticking lol

Calling a Mexican guy named Auston "Pablo" should endear "BizNasty" to his adoring fans.

Oh I know, I agree with everything you say. I should have been more clear on my point.

I'm in my early 50's, I have seen a lot of bad Leaf teams, I've also seen some pretty good ones.

I was referring to the dark decade we went through recently just before Sundin was done. The Leafs fans I hang with used to sit around trying to figure out how we might be able to draft both Spezza and JT (and Stamkos of course). I just find it hilarious that we now have both and there are four other guys on the team who might be better. I mean imagine that 8 years ago. Now having said all that, I don't expect this to be a team that makes it past the second round. Hopefully we can win the first round as I think we may have home-ice this year vs Boston.

So Sandin's gonna break camp with the big club isn't he.

If they can fit him I might prefer that. If they're going to try to slip depth defensemen through waivers anyway it might be better to try and get away with it now rather than when Dermott returns and teams have had injuries and/or an opportunity to sour on the guys they like right now. And it might be fewer than 10 games.

I've missed most of the preseason; what are we making of Timoshov?

Every RFA deal that gets settled is going to infuriate me so I should probably just get offline for the next two weeks.

I won't, but I should.

I think in that particular practice lineup he is just holding a spot for the forward (who is playing tonight) that "wins" it.

But never forget what he did to Elizabeth, we know that Philip never has

According to CapFriendly, the Leafs "Estimated Salary Expenditure" this year is a whopping $113,349,167.

Who needs a cap?
