I tried two of them, neither had them and one guy gave me literally the most confused look I've ever received. Maybe they aren't being sent to them until later.

I gotta go out in a few hours, I'll try another one.

If Timmy's employees out there are similar to the ones here, I assume there is a pallet of mugs in the back that someone just left their jacket over.
To be discovered later...

Jebus, it took trips to six different Timmy's to find one of the disposable cups out here.
The first 5 had no idea what we were talking about.

I tried one in Etobicoke yesterday on the list, likewise were clueless.

This company is just completely useless about everything.

A little surprised so many RFAs havent got things sorted out yet. For me, I am very open to Marner not being on the team. Of course I hope he is, but if Mitchell just wont sign, c'est la vie.

Saw a tweet that the team is not exploring trade options but I think it may come to that. One possibility I really like is Marner for Makar. Easy peasy. Win-win. Then use the cap space to resign Jake.

Not that it would happen.....OK time to start the season!

It's mind-boggling to think hockey men still believe there's any value whatsoever in Marleau. The Leafs are paper-thin at LW, there's no "young guys ahead of him in Toronto", he can't keep up with an average NHL third line let alone above that, and he refused to sit out games for load management despite it being painfully clear he couldn't play a full schedule anymore.

Whoever these scouts are, their teams' fans need to be concerned.

This is actually embarrassing.

Any guess what the team has offered?

I do not see any team out there with cap space to give him $11M, so the Leafs would be fools to give it to him. And I dont think they will.

At this point, Dubas might say 3 x $9M, take it or enjoy the raclette.

I think it's safe to say the following:

-The team is offering $9M x 3, but Marner wants at least $10.5M and going by Dreger's comments there maybe even $11M at that term

-The team is offering $10M x 5 but Marner wants the full Matthews value at that term.

And because there is literally no reason for Dubas to sign Marner at anything even close to what he's apparently demanding, Dubas is fine just sitting on the sidelines and waiting for the comparables to sign.

Marner doesn't have the luxury of dragging this to Dec. 1 because of the Leafs' cap situation so he's pretty much got just over a month to either come down, hope for a trade that Dubas doesn't laugh at or enjoy spending the year in Switzerland for $1 mil because he couldn't close a $1 mil gap in order to get paid $10 mil. Sounds smart to me.

/Maybe he's still negotiating an offer sheet :pound:

Even that would be such an overpay, especially since I'm sure that the last year of the deal would be big to set up a big qualifying offer that could arbitrate him right into free agency. As I see it any bridge deal could basically end up being a 4 year deal that walks him right into free agency unless it's appropriately cheap (like a bridge deal is fucking supposed to be! ) and he's got some incentive to re-up long term at the end of it.

It's definitely an overpay but 1) Dubas overpaid both Nylander and Matthews by the contemporary market standards so why anybody thinks he won't this time is beyond me, and 2) If we can't lock him up long-term by that time then they're going to have to make a decision with regards to his UFA status anyway.

And as they say with GMs, who really cares about 3 years from now? Odds are you won't be the guy dealing with it anyway.

I'm just saying that if I'm a player who gets a 3 year deal where the final year is $10.5-11 mil or so (which is what we're probably talking about) you can all but guarantee that I'm going to be a UFA in 4 years, even if I want to and do end up staying. I can't help but think the Leafs would want to avoid this situation.

Ideally, yes but if that's not going to be possible in this negotiation without handing Mitch that $11 mil that Paul Dreger's crying about then I think they bite it and get it done at that high bridge.

If it takes that much for 3 years I'm thinking I might rather just pay for the 8 years.
