When does this become farce?

In one of the 4 games with multiple penalties [the 4-0 loss to Nashville], the Preds had 3 penalties.

In the other 4 losses in January, the opponents got 0 or 1 discretionary penalties. That is pretty hard to believe in a league where the refs go into "even up" mode.

I think the "evening up" is for the fact the Leafs just don't commit many infractions (bottom of the league in called penalties). Basically teams are getting away with shit because the Leafs players are almost all skill and no guuurrrrt and so the refs are hesitant to affect the balance of play.

I guess if nothing else it should be good practice for the playoffs when the refs call even less.
