Matthews and Tavares etc. may have been effectively grounded by opposing defences in the last two games but somehow I don't think giving Connor Brown and Nazem Kadri more ice time than them is the solution, Babs.

At this point, given how talented the Leafs' forwards are, there is no fucking reason on earth those guys shouldn't be getting 20 minutes a night. Babs had better figure that out quick because there's literally no excuse he shouldn't be coaching these guys in a progressive, offensive manner and figuring out ways around the other team's strategies.

I don't think there's any panic, just more a lot of people wondering what Babcock is doing with these decisions. Nobody complained much in year 2 and 3 of his deal and the youngsters were still raw but they're all exiting their EL deals and they just paid $11 mil for one of the best players in the league so seeing that guy get out-minuted by Connor Brown is going to result in some grumbling.

Ditto when Zaitsev, who at this point is approaching Roman Polak-levels of dislike in some corners due to his lack of being able to play defence in the NHL, is given the most minutes on the team while Dermott gets shafted for one bad game.
