Just got a call from a collection agency about an unpaid toll from the PA turnpike.

I was last on the PA Turnpike last Thanksgiving Weekend. And not the one that just past. Over a year ago. I do not recall them ever billing me by mail with their "Pay by plate" nonsense. And according to their website, I have no outstanding unpaid tolls. So I started looking around.

More than $104 million in Pennsylvania Turnpike tolls went uncollected last year as the agency fully converted to all-electronic tolling, with the millions of motorists who don't use E-ZPass having a nearly 1 in 2 chance of riding without paying under the "toll-by-plate" license plate camera system.

Worst toll road in the country. That is why most everyone from the state doesn't drive on it.

The last time I drove on the PA turnpike was in the early 90s when I lived in Harrisburg.

A couple years ago I drove from Pittsburgh to Falling Water and purposely avoided using the turnpike.

Typically I head down 79 in Washington and cut across 68 to avoid it, but like I said 68 was closed and I thought "How bad can it be?"

Now I know.

For people that don’t know how bad the PA turnpike is. Essentially take steel wool and wipe your ass with it until bloody and then pour salt on your bloody asshole. After that dip your ass into a vat of red hot turpentine. Just when that pain goes away you get pegged from a moby huge.


And I would rather have season tickets and forced to sit through every Pirates home game vs driving on that road.

Cost me around $40 each way between the PA turnpike and the Ohio turnpike to drive from Ann Arbor to VA Beach. When we moved up here 18 years ago it was around $30 total.

Lets not forget western Pa has some of the most useless toll roads managed but the PA Turnpike commission.

- Mon-Fayette expressway
-Toll 66 or whatever it is called now.
- that stupid new toll road from 79 south to the airport.
- and that inane stretch of 376 north of the airport.
