There shouldn't be a NHL draft lottery - If there is as much parity in this league as Bettman claims, prove it by putting all 16 non-playoff teams in a hat and start pulling names. Last one remaining in the hat gets 1st overall pick.

I'm doing a reverse Toby Rieder - If Milan Lucic would have not played a single minute for the Flames this season, the Flames would have made the playoffs.

I mean, the NHL draft lottery is so well executed by the league that a certain team managed to get the 1st overall pick three consecutive years and 4 #1 picks over a six year span. You'd be hard pressed to pull that off selecting names from a hat.
