I don't think we need a petition, my friend, he still has a year left on his contract. I think Koskinen has signed a deal in Europe, so unless he retires or Holland finds a trade partner, Smitty will be back.

Some rumblings he's going to retire. I hope that if he does his full 2.5 counts against the cap.

I know it likely doesn't matter, but the optics are pretty great.
Nope, we don't need any more goalies!

Answer: Sign him 8 years x 6m. They'll grow to love him.

We're not saying that it's time to retire, but you are at least thinking about it right? Right?

It would certainly give them much needed cap space if they both retired. They removed the 35+ contract signing stipulation in the last CBA.

In that case, they should both give it one more kick at the can.

The rumored signing in Europe for Koskinen is now official: 2 year deal with Lugano in the Swiss league.

That'd give 'em enough cap space for Matt Murray!

Edmonton went from having 2 goalies on contract to 1 that may not come back and somehow then are probably in better shape in the net

You know, Koskinen wasn't bad this season (27-12-4) with a .903 save percentage, it's not his fault Chia overpaid for his services, he's certainly a serviceable backup in the NHL who was mishandled by the Oilers who have a history of bad goalie management (Dubnyk, Talbot etc.).
