The number one goalie has been worn down due to points 1 and 2.

The forward unit is struggling with injuries and really stupid line combinations and player usage.

It's a tire fire, and sadly it's not even intentional. They're just playing like shit and coaching and management is not doing what needs to be done to help the team through some key injuries.

No offense to Leafs and Jackets fans, but lighting up those teams up who are sporting rosters filled with AHL callups and fringe NHLers doesn't do it for me. Hey, the guy is a great player and will likely have a fine career, we don't need to put up a statue quite yet though.

For comparison, last year's top rookie scorers (Stone and Gaudreau) both had 64 pts in 80 games; if McDavid maintains this pace (he probably won't but who knows), he could score 56 pts in 45 games.
