Significantly better - Tell ya what, send the Flames RyJo and you can have Russell back.

/You can throw in Boll as well.

You would need to take Clarkson, Bourque and Johnson too.

And send us Moneyhands and Johnny hockey.

And the rest of your draft picks for the rest of the century.

On the one hand, they should be commended for not giving it right away to McDavid. We all know he's their next captain, but why put that load on his shoulders.

On the other hand, if Ference is an alternate anyway, why bother removing it from him to begin with? Was his captaincy the reason they've been god-awful the past two seasons?

Typical Oilers move - Stumbling around in the dark without a clue or plan.

How on Earth will they decide who gets to wear the letter for each game? By my math, somebody is going to be left out unless they just assume none of them will all be healthy at once, which probably isn't a far fetched assumption.

Can't they alternate home/away?

They were going to have to name a 4th guy right away anyway with Eberle out for the first couple of months, no? All this really does is give that guy whatever legitimacy and respect doesn't come with being labeled as an interim "A".

I guess it would have been a BETTER prediction if MacT responded with "oh yah? well all you guys are gettin fired too!"

BEST PREDICTION

By now, it’s common knowledge the Canucks offered Cory Schneider to the Oil for a package consisting of the seventh overall pick, a second-rounder and Martin Marincin.

For the Canucks, turns out, it wouldn’t have mattered if they had the Oil pick or Lou’s New Jersey one. They were taking Horvat over Nichuskin (and that was the debate, if there was one).

Before the negotiation with MacTavish broke off, however, the Canucks offer came down to No. 7 and Marincin.

Mac-T had to think long and hard over that one.

But he came back to Vancouver and declined, saying:

“My goalie coach says Dubnyk is going to be a star.”

The Gilly response to Mac-T: “You’re going to be firing your goalie coach.”

He was right.

As we begin the 2015-2016 campaign, we remind you. Somewhere in Edmonton, there is a 9-year old boy who doesn't know what the word "playoffs" even means.

Simply put...Okposo for Nurse and a 1st rounder is the type of trade a team makes when they are rebuild mode. Do you think the Islanders are still in rebuild mode? I certainly don't.

It all depends on the value. It's not about what mode the Islanders are in. It's whether or not you believe the Islanders can win without him. I think they can. That's just me. It looks like Kyle is staying put for the time being. I guess it doesn't matter.

lol - Yup. Nobody has ever tweeted about an Oilers playoff game, let's keep it that way.

They'll score plenty of goals. Whether they can keep their opponents from scoring is the obvious question??

That's the common belief, but if you take a closer look at the stats, they are in the bottom third of the league in goals scored over the last few years.

Absolutely. And if you look at the advanced stats you'll see that it really has to do with zone starts. WAAYYY too many faceoffs at centre ice. :trash:

Bad combo for the Coil. Good for our little comedy troupe. Or should I call it a comedy troopla??

Glad to see the hype machine is running at full capacity.

A player such as McDavid rarely comes along. If he performs and develops as expected, there could be scoring records, Stanley Cups and individual awards, and an abundance of smaller milestones along the way.

Hall of Fame awaits pieces of hockey history with Connor McDavid’s debut

Shouldn't the Hall of Fame want something from every players' NHL debut, just in case?

I will try to get ahold of something from when Kole Sherwood makes his debut if ever.

The idea that there is a box with gloves, skates and a Jersey marked "Alexandre Daigle" in the basement of the HHoF makes me giggle.
