Why do you feel this way? The top 4 is fine. The bottom 3 is Strait, Zidlicky & probably Pulock. Now I would have Pulock as the 5th defenseman, but we know that isn't going to happen. Remember Hickey is out for the first 3 weeks of the season.

Simply put...Okposo for Nurse and a 1st rounder is the type of trade a team makes when they are rebuild mode. Do you think the Islanders are still in rebuild mode? I certainly don't.

Wait, just so I have this right, you're positing two different trade scenarios correct? So, from Yzerman's POV, he'd have 2 offers, one for help-me-now players and another with futures?

Nope, if they're trading Stamkos they'd like want a young player or two who can help them now and some futures.

Let's take Ottawa for example. They decide to go all in and trade Zibanejad (help the Lightning now), Ceci (help now but largely for the future), Colin White (future)and a 2016 1st and 2nd(future). If you know that Stammer won't comeback and that deal is on the table, it's not easy to flat out refuse. Especially given TB's depth at forward.

Okay gotcha.

I mean of course you have to consider it. And to be fair, Tampa pretty much made this exact deal with NYR for MSL so it's not out of character. I just still think he'd turn it down, especially if Stamkos is having a career year.

I feel that his chapter is foundational, and to remove all references to him would be a mistake of Nikitian proportions.

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

WAIT! That's the subtitle of the second book!

Nobody is going to claim Le Femme Nikita with that contract. Maybe the Oilers could find a KHL team to take him.

/Would save actual dollars paid out, only $900K as far as the cap is concerned.

Hard to believe that Nikitin and Kris Russell were traded for one another.

Blue Jackets and Blues swap defensemen - NHL.com - News

/Although I'm sure Hitch knew what he had in Russell from his Columbus days. Flames got Russell from the Blues for a 5th round pick. Amazing.

Fucking Arneil. Wouldn't give any kids a chance.

How much better would the Jackets D look with Russell still eating shots back there?

Significantly better - Tell ya what, send the Flames RyJo and you can have Russell back.

/You can throw in Boll as well.

Ben Scrivens on waivers for the purpose of assignment. I wonder if Cam Talbot will be on waivers this time next year.

General Fanager @generalfanager
Nikitin and Scrivens both in the AHL combine for $6.8M in salary, the Oilers would have $4.9M on the cap as buried.

And yet somehow MacT has not been fired (saw him sitting beside Chia in the press box at Rogers Arena last night).

Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
Defenceman Nikita Nikitin cleared waivers and has been assigned to the AHL's Bakersfield @Condors.

Most expensive contract in the AHL
