Oh I agree, it was more paying homage to a post of BGDave's in the Rangers - Caps thread that has gained some notoriety over the last couple of weeks.

All true, but lets not cloud the issue.

How much of that does T-Mac give to Connor The Great for making him look good?

And related Q:

How much does Bettman/Oilers organization/Pingpongballs everywhere give to Connor for the lost personal endorsement money they screwed him out of when they switched out the Leaf ping pong ball with the Oilers?

Seeriously, the luck of the draw cost the kid millions.

This is actually beyond fucking dumb. You fire a guy, you get nothing!

I don't understand why the Leafs are giving the Wings a 3rd rounder for Babcock, either. His contract was up June 30.
Agreed on fired players, but I don't agree with you on Babcock.

Whether his contract was up or not on June 30, he was still under contract. Holland could have denied teams permission to talk to him even, but you have to figure that his willingness to allow the conversations to take place was based on the assumption that he'd get something in return.

Wow, even McLellan is pulling more than Coach Q at this point.

If McLellan gets $3M and Babcock gets all the money, what does Coach Q get if he manages to lead Chicago to a 3rd Cup in 6 years?

Or, ya know, that Babs would wait until July 1, leave, and someone would've come in in the interim and asked for Blashill and all the other coaches would be gone and the Wings would be in deep shit.

Not sure how it works with AHL coaches. Would Holland have to give permission for teams to talk to Blashill, or would he simply be entitled to compensation now if someone hired him away?
