Oh I agree, it was more paying homage to a post of BGDave's in the Rangers - Caps thread that has gained some notoriety over the last couple of weeks.
All true, but lets not cloud the issue.
Scrivens IS a sieve.

Cam Neely confirms that the Oilers will give the Bruins a 2nd round pick in the next 3 years for the "in season" hire of Chiarelli.
is there compensation owing to the Sharks for hiring McLellan too?
Adrian Dater @adater
My sources tell me Todd McLellan's new deal with Edmonton: five years, $15 million
Damn, I might even spend 5 years in Edmonton for 15 shmill.
plus OKC has pushed utica to a game 7 ... comedy gold here we come i guess?

How much of that does T-Mac give to Connor The Great for making him look good?
Agreed on fired players, but I don't agree with you on Babcock. This is actually beyond fucking dumb. You fire a guy, you get nothing!
I don't understand why the Leafs are giving the Wings a 3rd rounder for Babcock, either. His contract was up June 30.
Wow, even McLellan is pulling more than Coach Q at this point.Adrian Dater @adater

Or, ya know, that Babs would wait until July 1, leave, and someone would've come in in the interim and asked for Blashill and all the other coaches would be gone and the Wings would be in deep shit.Agreed on fired players, but I don't agree with you on Babcock.
Whether his contract was up or not on June 30, he was still under contract. Holland could have denied teams permission to talk to him even, but you have to figure that his willingness to allow the conversations to take place was based on the assumption that he'd get something in return.
Assistant coach to Babcock?Wow, even McLellan is pulling more than Coach Q at this point.
If McLellan gets $3M and Babcock gets all the money, what does Coach Q get if he manages to lead Chicago to a 3rd Cup in 6 years?
Not sure how it works with AHL coaches. Would Holland have to give permission for teams to talk to Blashill, or would he simply be entitled to compensation now if someone hired him away?Or, ya know, that Babs would wait until July 1, leave, and someone would've come in in the interim and asked for Blashill and all the other coaches would be gone and the Wings would be in deep shit.
Permission and comp. Still, it'd put him in a shitty spot. Not sure how it works with AHL coaches. Would Holland have to give permission for teams to talk to Blashill, or would he simply be entitled to compensation now if someone hired him away?
Yeah. With Blashill still under contract, letting Babcock start talking was definitely the right approach.Permission and comp. Still, it'd put him in a shitty spot.
