Blue Jackets planning to chop up a lot of onions in a dusty arena opening night.

Mrs 43: "Laine really levels off the average overall attractiveness of that mural."

Hey 43, the Tigers are 0-2, they could sure use Sillinger.

1) Ryan A - you are a fucking idiot
2) Sillinger and "Chinny" are pretty much guaranteed to stay here. Even if Sillinger isn't on the opening night roster, he isn't going back to Junior. He'll be carrying the mail in Cleveland.

I would bet two forwards are on the trade block with Korpisalo. Question is which 2? Texier? Foudy? Bemstrom? Robinson?

C'mon now, the rivers barely catch on fire up there any more. It's way better than it was.

Is he allowed to?
"a signed player aged 18 or 19 who was claimed from a CHL club and is not retained by the NHL club, must be assigned to the CHL junior club whom he last played for or owes a contractual obligation."

he played in USHL last year, but was in the WHL before that.
not sure how the rule fits in here

I think that's the kicker that allows him to play in the AHL. If he doesn't stick with the Blue Jackets, it's probably best for his development that he goes to Cleveland.

The talk around here is of him going to Cleveland for playing time if it comes to that, so maybe they are going by the fact he played in Sioux Falls or wherever last year.

Worst case is he stays here and learns and develops under this coaching staff. I really doubt they would send him back to junior at this point. He has proven he is ready to be a pro and has very few holes to keep from calling him an NHL regular.

if that rule applies (and last year at USHL means it may not), then management would not have a choice.
stupid rule, as there are some kids absolutely too good for junior that have to waste a year in the CHL if they don't make the big club.
Only applied to players from CHL though, so you can have an 18 year old in the AHL if he comes directly from Europe for example.

Canucks have a Russian kid that if he steps foot in the CHL, he is basically barred from AHL for the next two seasons.
So developmentally the right choice might not always be available.

End of period interviewer just asked Jake Voracek why the power play seems to be working (2 for 2 tonight): "They listen to me".

Then he asked what Jake was talking to the ref about at the end of the period: "That's none of your business" Then Jake laughed, took off the headset and left.

I have missed him.

At this point they were 3 for 3 on the power play. Finished 3 for 4. 5 Power Play goals in the last 2 games.

Larsen wasn't the problem, apparently.

Opening night roster as it stands:

Chinakhov and Sillinger both make it and Domi is off IR.

Can't say I disagree or am disappointed with much other than Lehtonen going to waivers for assignment over Harrington but the club seems to love Harrington. He is great at everything except hockey.

Maybe Foudy could have stayed up, but he might thrive as 1C in Cleveland.

Congrats to Cole Sillinger!!
He could very well wind up 1C between Laine and Voracek on opening night.

This is your reminder that the 3 incoming players (so far) from the Jones trade are Boqvist, Bean and Sillinger. And one more first rounder to go. A potential 1C, a Top Pair and Second Pair Defencemen.

If the over/under is still 76.5, I'm putting money on the over this week when I'm in WV. Not that I'm expecting great things, but I'm optimistic that goaltending and some opportune goals can steal more games than expected.

Not at all surprised that Boone got the C, but I am glad that Ollie got recognized with an A. Not a vocal guy, but if there is anyone in that locker room that provides a good example of getting shit done it's him.

Big hope is that with Torts gone that Jenner gets a real role beyond "win defensive zone draw". Always felt he has more to give.

Also: Dad mode Jarmo defending Laine:

Again, Torts laid into him right away before he even adjusted to being traded for the first time in his life and he never took off. Thinking there is gonna be a big year in the cards for Patty. And he's gonna get PAID next summer.
