CBJ got much more dangerous today.
Lose Señor Suckitude, and you've really got something

Maybe. If someone as talented as Saad was in Torts' doghouse so bad I think it's 50-50 that Panarin winds up there too.

Also 50-50 that Panarin isn't as lethal away from Kane even if he is on a line with someone as talented as Wennberg.

We'll see. Today it looks very good but you never know what Torts is thinking.

Provided he follows through, it could be good;

I hope they give Bjorkstrand a shot on Panarin's off wing. Bjork can distribute the puck well.

Jackets drafting sentimentally today:
The son of Bob's hero

And a local boy:

Kid's good. Well respected by the coaches I know who've worked with him.

Jackets sign Wennberg to six-year contract

Wow. Skipped the bridge. I guess the kid has shown the team all they needed to see. Good for him, and good for the team, provided it's not Draisaitl money.

Edit: Not Draisaitl money
$4.9 million AAV for 6 years

17-18: $3.5M
18-19: $4.5M
19-20: $5.35M
20-21: $5.35M
21-22: $5.35M
22-23: $5.35M

Could be a huge bargain in three years.

Oh, and Twatwaffle on the beat:
Portzline: Blue Jackets can't cave in contract talks with...

Was tweeting that the Jackets and Wennberg were "not close". Around half an hour before the announcement was made.

So, the rumo(u)r over the summer is that the Jackets offer was Sonny Milano, Ryan Murray and a first for Duchene and Joe said it wasn't enough. That's half of the Jackets goals so far this season.

Thank Goodness for Joe Sakic.

There was also a rumor of Hamonic, top prospect (Barzal?) and a 1st for Duchene. How he didn't take one of those offers is beyond me.
