John Tortorella: "I don't think we're even close"

Maybe the Jackets will get lucky and he'll just quit?

They just had zero flow after about 15 minutes into the first, when the adrenaline high faded out.

I don't get his line combos, I don't understand why "shortening your bench" means "Putting defensive liabilities together".

Zach Werenski is going to be a star. He has great vision and composure. He makes insane passes. But twice last night he got victimized because the play he made relied on someone filling the quiet space behind him and no one was there because they were trying to block lanes and weren't in position to make the play and break out. Another weapon misused in a system that stifles creativity.

Torts' answer to this line's issue?

1) Put them out more.
2) Replace Atkinson with Calvert.

Jackets news roundup.

Soupy not happy:

More cap relief. His agent is framing it as he doesn't want to take a spot away from a kid, but it really feels like a veteran who is insulted at the demotion and waiver clearance.

Harrington coming back

Bad news: This means that Murray may be out a while.
Good News: This means that Dalton Prout will probably not stay in a lot.

Do you know a better way to get guys to walk off the bench?

Torts gonna Tort.

Yes. His first line is currently Calvert - Dubisnky - Atkinson

And Boone Jenner is on the 4th line. With two other centers.

Jackets only hope now is to fail miserably and get Torts and Jarmo canned by US Thanksgiving. Then bring in Travis Green to coach and some whiz kid 30 year old nobody's ever heard of to be your GM and you'll be fine.

When a downtrodden franchise and its fan base has been beaten up like this for a decade plus, the fans will eat up a regime change if it brings in new blood and not retreads. The NHL has changed and the dinosaurs need to go. Bringing in dinosaurs and retreads is an insult to the fans and a sure fire way to get your attendance to drop to 9K a game and your team relocated to Las Vegas, Seattle or Quebec.

Waiting for the team to go 0-18 before making personnel changes is nuts! Do it at 0-7, as is the established benchmark.

Remember when the Hawks canned Denis Savard four games into the season and brought in coach Q? That move worked out very well.

John Madden is the current heir apparent.

The good news is the Jackets got a sweetheart deal on the Arena and the lease is good for another 26 years. They won't move anytime in the near future. They will stay here. And continue to destroy hopes and dreams.

Waiting for the team to go 0-18 before making personnel changes is nuts! Do it at 0-7, as is the established benchmark.

The benchmark is 0-8 and that was with a coach they considered firing in the offseason. No way they pull the trigger on a proven winner like Torts after 0-7.

Remember when the Hawks canned Denis Savard four games into the season and brought in coach Q? That move worked out very well.

Problem is, there is no coach like coach Q available.

Attention any team that wants a solid 2-way defenseman with wheels to make up for pinches and with a solid head on his shoulders:

Fuck you, you bald Finnish Fuckwit.

Jack Johnson, Scott Harrington and Dalton Prout remain with team.
