Several years ago, this place was closed, after the lack of maintenance caused it to be unsafe. For example, one of the pipes burst and water was pouring THROUGH rooms and out the windows into the street. The owner vowed that he was going to repair and reopen. That was 2016.

The place sat derelict, had no security and people were going in and getting hurt. He was ordered to attend hearings about the state of the place and he refused, eventually having an arrest warrant issued for him which he ignored. Just yesterday, it was announced the entire site had been sold to a real estate developer who wants to build mixed use retail/condos.

Last night, it caught on fire. So mysterious.


The only question is was the the old owner trying to get some extra insurance cash on the way out, or is it the new owners trying to get insurance to pay for the demolition?
