I wanted to see what Chat GPT could do to predict a few scenarios on blues-canucks-flames to end the season. It did not disappoint. I get that the blues and Flames could have vastly different records that predicted below. but I think its pretty solid for working out some possibilities with taking into account road and home records etc....
CRITERIA: the canucks have 78 pts on the season with 11 games to play. each win is 2 pts and each overtime lose is 1 pt the blues have 83 pts on the season with 9 games to play. each win is 2 pts and each overtime lose is 1 pt the Flames have 79 pts on the season with 12 games to play. each win is 2 pts and each overtime lose is 1 pt what record of Wins, loss and overtime loss do the canucks need to have more points than the blues and flames and what do those teams records have to be for the canucks to be better

We need to determine how many points the Canucks must earn in their final 11 games to finish ahead of both the Blues and Flames, assuming different possible outcomes for each team.

Maximum Possible Points

Each team can earn points as follows:
  • Canucks (78 pts, 11 games left) → Max = 78 + (11 × 2) = 100 pts
  • Blues (83 pts, 9 games left) → Max = 83 + (9 × 2) = 101 pts
  • Flames (79 pts, 12 games left) → Max = 79 + (12 × 2) = 103 pts
For the Canucks to finish ahead of both teams, they must have more points than the Blues and Flames, so we find scenarios where:
Canucks’ Final Points>max⁡(Blues’ Final Points, Flames’ Final Points)\text{Canucks’ Final Points} > \max(\text{Blues’ Final Points, Flames’ Final Points})Canucks’ Final Points>max(Blues’ Final Points, Flames’ Final Points)

Scenario 1: Blues & Flames Perform Well

  • If the Blues go 7-2-0 (97 points)
  • If the Flames go 9-3-0 (97 points)
➡️ Canucks Need at Least 98 Points, meaning they must go:
  • 10-1-0 (98 points)
  • 9-0-2 (98 points)

Scenario 2: Blues & Flames Struggle

  • If the Blues go 5-4-0 (93 points)
  • If the Flames go 6-6-0 (91 points)
➡️ Canucks Need at Least 94 Points, meaning they must go:
  • 8-3-0 (94 points)
  • 7-1-3 (94 points)

Conclusion

The Canucks’ required record depends on how well the Blues and Flames perform:
  • If the Blues and Flames win a lot, Canucks need at least 10 wins.
  • If the Blues and Flames are mediocre, Canucks need around 7-8 wins with some OT points.

yeah I dont think we can at all waver from winning 8 of our last games and hope the blues and flames slide a bit

8-2-1 would be ideal but

islanders
Blue Jackets
Jets
Kraken
Ducks
Golden Knights
Stars
Avs
Wild
Sharks
Golden Knights.

I do not see 8 wins in that remaining schedule.
