Capfriendly flipped over to next season.

Jackets have 23.4 m in space and 7 NHL regular RFAs to sign.

Non - ELC
Bean
Nylander
Texier

ELC
Marchenko
KJ
China Cough
Sillinger

Bean will probably be trade fodder. Nylander will (should) be happy to have any kind of deal and relatively cheap. The others have performed well enough to get bridges but I wonder if they go ahead and lock up KJ and Sillinger now.

We really need to get Provorov off the books, for one he's too expensive and 2 he's in Jiricek and Mateychuk's way.

I have spent so much of the last two months fearing it was going to be Holland or Hunter that I would have accepted pretty much anything else. The idea that the architect of one of the most consistently competitive franchises of the last decade might just be coming?

This is my Stanley Cup

Hopefully the Jackets get Hurricanes Waddell and not Thrashers Waddell.

Lol dash always there with a dose of reality

Jackets fans have been solidly behind their team through thick and thin and things have been rather thin of late. They have some good young players on that team, just need to avoid injuries to key players to be a playoff contender.

So, it looks like JD will be out or at least step aside/into a more background role. Waddell will be POHOP/GM to start and also looks like Canes kept him away from Draft prep, so he will be able to sit with the Jackets at the draft. He will be looking for a GM.

Not sure why Holland's name keeps showing up, though. Even Friedman says he hears it but it makes no sense. I would think there'd be power struggles between them and Holland wouldn't be around long, so he'd be right back there trying to hire another one. Hope he gives more responsibility to Chris Clark and brings in someone like Darche.

As what? Janitor?

This is just rage/click bait. Which will continue until the office is filled out. Give it another day and they will be saying that MacLean is coming back because they have nothing else to do while lying in bed facing the fact that they will never know the touch of a hand that loves them.

His first order of business should be getting a new head coach - within 24 hours. You don’t need a coach for the draft.
At the very least, jettison all three assistants; Recchi, McCarthy and Boll. PV might succeed with actual hockey guys alongside him. Then he needs to figure out what we can get for Provorov and Jenner. Then get on with the RFAs

I don't expect Jake Bean is terribly happy about this news.

Probably a little generous to say he "was almost part of the Miracle on Ice team" when there were more than 100 invited to that camp. 75 guys were "almost a part of that team".

Some interesting facts, nonetheless.

He's already one of us, tired as fuck of Hedger questions.

So Hedger asked if the challenge was too daunting because the roster needs s much or something like that.

Waddell's answer:
"There’s a lot of good pieces there. The previous management has done a good job of drafting. We have some challenges, of course -- that’s why they’ve brought me in -- but it’s not like this is an organization that’s going to take a long time to fix."

"I wouldn’t be taking this on at this point in my career unless I thought we could make a difference."

I think the last time I was this excited by a Blue Jackets prospect was Werenski. For a lot of the same reasons.

Obviously, my preference is Lindholm for a few reasons like he has familiarity with Johnny and we wouldn't need to give up assets to negotiate with him. But Necas is not a guy I would be unhappy with. I also wouldn't mind Tarasenko. He's lost a step to be sure, but he is still strong enough to fill a 3rd line role and could be a great mentor for the Russian 3. Figuring out how to land all three would be legendary.

We need to move Bean and Provorov, but sending Bean back to Carolina seems mean. Provorov might be attractive to them especially if Burns wants to call it quits. I could see them moving Jenner and Texier too.

One thing that I don't expect is an Elvis trade. Much to the chagrin of a vocal portion of the fanbase he said he likes Elvis and tried twice to trade for him in Carolina. Said it's a miracle he can play at the level he has been with everything he's been through and thinks he could be elite with the "right support".

Necas is a good player, but it's the wrong timing for the Flames. Vancouver makes a lot of sense because they're still in their Cup contending window, but the Flames need to be accumulating picks, not dispensing of them.

Thread breaking down key points in Waddell's interview from yesterday. I like his stance on things like the young guys (Johnson and Fantilli) where to go with Laine and what Elvis needs. Feels like a logical, steady hand on the wheel. Really looking forward to the next few years.

glad you are finally getting that.

I was 50/50 on Rutherford but It is nice to have a true hockey mind to guide the team and put the right people in place. I still dont think we will ever win a cup but it wont be from a lack of trying.
