With a name like Austin Swankler I would have thought he was busy getting fitted for a monocle and buying up all the blue chip stocks like Amalgamated Spats, Trans-Atlantic Zeppelin, Congreves Inflammable Poweders and that up-and-coming Baltimore Opera Hat Company.

But all the best to Master Swankler in his athletic endeavours.
I thought he was maybe heir to the Swank magazine empire and was confused that he would have been opposed to the hazing ... or was he just upset he didnt get to be a part of the hazing

I legitimately didn't think these guys had it in them, but I will say I am impressed. Key points:

- They recorded it Sunday
- Biz verified with several players
- The specific incident that the player was weirded out by happened at Babs' home which the player was invited over for "lunch". After going through the phone, Babs sent the kid on without lunch.
- Specifically mentions how someone who is "18 years old" won't know to push back.
- Calls out how Babs prey on those kids and treats vets way different.
- Whitney asks what if a kid was in the closet. Unnecessary to bring up, IMO. Invasion of privacy is invasion of privacy.
- Biz hopes the media leaves it here. The players don't need to be asked about it all the time - happened off season, dealt with off season and off season is over (Surprising take, IMO)
- Biz doesn't agree that Jarmo needs to be fired. Says he didn't like the statement but gives Jarmo credit for taking a chance on someone and owning that he made a mistake.
- Now trying to say it wasn't Commodore that started it, despite Biz and Commie both saying he was initially. Guessing Commie got in some sort of trouble for it.

They say they will always defend the players and the old boy's club should worry. Just hope they keep going after hockey culture where it needs gone after. They got this one right, but they already had a hate boner for Babcock. Will they be as aggressive when it's someone they like? Suppose something comes up about Tocchet, will they skewer him as well?

What if they come in contact with info about the WJHC team? Will they sit on it if it's about players?

Fair questions. What did they say (if anything) about Kyle Beach?

They roasted management and coach. But as I have said before, the reports stated that members of the team harrassed and bullied Beach once it was all known in the team. As yet, none of those players have been named or punished.

Several members of that team will be having Hall Of Fame conversations the next few years. We should know if it was them before that happens.

I'd venture to guess, no, they probably wouldn't get in on that and yes that is unfortunate and dilutes any possible "good" they can do.

That said, there's already a hungry ass media out there who don't give a rat's ass about players who should be the ones who can do that work anyway. There is, very clearly, an abhorrent resistance from the mainstream hockey media, the insiders clan and anybody else who trades in information that is only obtainable from management sources to ever dig at all into things that could affect their relationships with those management types. So long as that is the case, any other outlet that can be seen as "open for business" when it comes to fucking over the management assholes is a victory in my eyes.

not sure if dust is settling but here is a question for you

this whole thing does it give you confidence in Mgmt or is it shaken beyond repair on this issue alone?

Tough question. There have been some good things that make me have some degree of confidence in them. And I do truly believe they had no idea that Babs was gaslighting the young players.

But I can't deny the errors. Gubberson 4x4, Severson's contract was a little heavy as well. Plus the whole panicking into the Bjorkstrand trade (after overpaying Gubberson).

To me, the coaching decisions have just been brutal. Choosing Torts and losing Bednar. Then replacing Torts with Larsen and not giving Vincent his shot then, and then taking on Babs, once again risking losing Vincent then after him being passed over again. It's only dumb luck that Vincent is here to pick up the pieces. We really could be turning everything over to Steve McCarthy or Jared Boll. I think Vincent could be a great coach. But he should have been there 2 years ago. Or he should have been learning from Bednar.

Jarmo seems to make worse decisions when pressure is on, and the pressure will be super high this season. I don't know if I want him with his hands on the wheel to blunder his way into trying to fix his reputation. I hope he has the sense to back off and let Vincent make the most of a solid prospect pool.

JD and Jarmo are saying the right words, but Torts ended exactly like you would expect, Larsen was a disaster and killed the room and Babs is unfixable. All three of those things should have been obvious.

It was 4D acrobatic wizard's chess all along by Jarmo. He always intended to turn the team over to Vincent and he wanted to bridge the divide between the older family having players and the younguns and knew Babcock would cross the line.

Wouldn't a cookout and some beers have worked as well?

No one showed up because Babcock kept deleting the calendar entry telling the young guys where it was.

HOCKEY SEASON HAS STARTED

"Abductor strain" is a weird way of saying "We're still waiting to find out if he is getting punted by the NHL for the WJHC thing"

"We had Kopitar at 6, ahead of Brule." "Not one team had Kopitar in the top 10." Seems he can't count to one.

And he sent the kid back to Junior for wine. That makes sense.
