Elvis hurt his blocker hand in the second period and got speared in the plums near the end of the second. Had clear lateral movement issues all of the third and was left in for a final of 7-1. 50 shots against.

Larsen’s Jarmo’s second coach hire. He maxed out the cap this off-season and even on paper at best they’re competing for a WC. If Gaudreau didn’t walk through the door begging for a deal out of nowhere where is this team right now?

Having Bjorkstrand would have helped but I don't think management had a lot of expectation on a big step forward this season and this is the season to do it with such a deep draft. Had they not gotten Johnny they could have chased a better 1C not the 1C from wish they have in Boone Jenner. When a guy like Johnny says he wants to come, you have to take that shot. This could be a strong core in 2-3 years, but desperately needs a real 1C. Getting Fantilli or Bedard would change the franchise dramatically, obviously. There is literally no other path to a franchise 1C with the trade pieces we have. And they won't give Johnson or Sillinger a chance to see what they can do there. Not sure who is most responsible for that, but someone needs to step in and make that happen.

Overpaying Gubberson which led to not having the money to pay Bjorkstrand and then rushing to move him and then losing Texier for the year is a massive black mark on Jarmo's record. If he had waited til camp opened he would have had the cap space for Bjorkstrand by opening day.

And probably could have found a suitor for Nyquist for more than 2 low picks.

I hope we get to see how the franchise handles getting a 1OA pick. Overall, I think the franchise is on a good path it's just that Johnny gave too many people a false sense of hope and expectation. He's still a killer piece to have when it comes together.

I think they gave Larsen a chance because he has been so loyal, but never believed he was the guy to get to the next level. There's really no coach out there who could except Trotz but he clearly does not want to coach. It's just that I don't think anyone expected Brad to make the team worse, so Jarmo may have to accelerate the plan of getting a real coach when he's done letting Brad sit in the big boy seat. Which sucks because no quality coach is going to be available. Maybe one would be in 2-3 years but not right now. The asset management has been terrible. Franchise thinks KJ is a potential 1C, he's never played on the first line and has not taken a single faceoff. How the fuck is he going to learn? Plus he's fifth in league scoring for rookie and plays an average of 3-4 minutes a night less than the other 4. Marchenko has 10 points in 8 games in the AHL and isn't called up. Foudy has played 3 games. Olivier has played 7.

Gudbranson is going to be a buyout at the end of year two, and I think that was always obvious. Next two years we're gonna have Jiricek, Mateychuk, Ceulemans and Knazko all vying for spots and Werenski, Peeke and Gavrikov at least still playing here. Gudbranson will eat minutes, hopefully protect the kids, but we don't have the structure to make him even half as serviceable as he was in Calgary.

Jarmo said a while ago that he didn't think bad Brad was solely responsible for the Power Play problems. So either Jarmo is blind or Torts meddled. Either way, he had 2 units of Laine/Bjorkstrand and Bemstrom/Atkinson and could not score above 14%. Motherfucker better have something up his sleeve. Or we are on the hunt for Bedard.
