Im very leery of Nicholson as GM ... GM is the important position ... lets face it, president is more or less an ambassadorial role ... Thats why i think Linden or Nicholson or gretzky would be ok for a presidnet position

only 1 president in the NHL plays an active role in the day to day operations of their team (Davidson with CBJ) ... I always saw Nicholson in this role ... he doesnt have any experience doing player contracts (which yes can be delegated to Gilman) or doing trades. I also question the player selection aspect.

Yes he was president of hockey canada ... he didnt pick the players for the olympic teams ... he wasnt gm

Id like to see a guy like Jim Benning who has been in the trenches as an assistant GM ... he has expereince dealing with contracts and player evaluation ... and i think there is a bigger possibility that HE would totally clean house when it comes to scouting

The only question about him as heard yesterday is he is a very quiet guy and could be even worse than Gillis in dealing with the media (if thats even possible)

yeah Im kind of lost on who to bring in for coach. Im just not sure on it, hell I wanted Eakins but I got caught up in his AHL hype. Laviolette was also someone that came to mind but Im not sure he would get more out of this team than Torts did but I think he would be better and it wouldn't exactly bring in a great offensive system.

I understand why Trevor wants it, its the best way to get back in the game in an executive role (no matter how figurehead it is) and get to see the operations run in a different capacity than what he knew. Im hoping Pat Quinn can be a consultant as well (not so much on youth and personal) but on the presidents role, as for Nicholson being GM, Im a little worried about that as I saw him more a president as per what you guys talked about earlier. These hires are more for PR fixes than for actual operation corrections and that is no good.

when youre an assistant youre pretty much a puppet, no?


He's a capologist ... worked alot of the contracts ... he did a good job imo

He was rumoured to be one of the candidates for the calgary gm job
