the rumour is he will be president ... big fuckin whoop ... meaningless for the team ...fans arent idiots ... Aquilini thinks they are but he'll be proven wrong

when i said STH renewals are a month late this morning i was wrong ... they are DUE tomorrow ... all this news of change coming out today is obviously because renewals are in the shitter and they are very very desperate ... the ONLY solution (which is also the LEAST likely) is a ticket price decrease imo

I laughed when I read that...

According to several reports former #Flames GM Jay Feaster was at YYC this afternoon in AC lounge. Where he might be going? #westwardho??

I think ultimately they give Tortorella one more season. New GM, maybe try and acquire some players who better fit his system. If the Sedin's can buy into it, others can. Just a matter of what players they new GM will bring in. :noidea:

Good Bye Mike Gillis

Mike Gillis. you failed. yep, the team has fallen 3 straight years under you since the 2011 Finals. A lot of it is you, a lot of it is the players, but that comes back to you. Im glad they let you go. I cant feel sorry for you for the millions you will make not working for this team, but I want to thank you. you did give us a shot at the cup, that was part you, part nonis, part burke. its the way it works, we all know it, you inherit parts of another's job that inherited parts from another, you take those pieces and you make them into what you need to work for your vision. That almost worked. You came closer than any other GM in our history to that cup, even closer than 94.

But you SHOULD have won that, we SHOULD have won that, and its not been the same since.

Changes should have occurred after that season, but I can understand why you didn't want to tinker, hey you won another presidents trophy. However, losing to the kings that next year was bad, I mean really bad, we looked terrible, that is where it all went wrong and that is where changes - BIG changes should have been made.

They didn't happen and we got swept by the sharks the year after and you could see how much this team had fallen but no changes were made outside the coach. That wasn't enough almost everyone knew that, I guess we will see if the new GM thinks the same. If ownership thinks the same that THIS team will get it done then man this fan base is in for some hurt.

I think we will have the most interesting off season to date. Im excited about that. Not excited enough to pay thousands for tickets that I did before. Lets see what you have to say tomorrow Canucks.

Regards,
Matt

Feaster: "It's a condiment that I'm being considered for the position."

Seeing as how they've played ketchup hockey all year, it seems appropriate.

To be frank, I don't know how any non-Canuck fan can't relish this thread.

Some very good points, it's definitely going to be an interesting and active off-season for the 'Nucks, that's for sure.

Sounds like torts is probably getting canned too

Frankie put clauses in gillis and torts contracts with heavily reduced buyout amounts

And there is a good chance John Tortorella may not survive the purge as well. The word is that Linden will have a clean slate when he comes in, with the power to hire his own GM — Brendan Shanahan and Boston assistant Jim Benning the leading candidates. And the appointed GM will be free to hire his own coach, and it’s not likely to be the guy in place according to sources that indicated Tortorella has a clause in his contract whereby he can be dismissed for a payout considerably less than what is on the contract’s face value if the team is not satisfied with his services.

With all this money aquilini saved maybe BOOTH gets bought out too

Furthermore, the source indicated there is a chance Gillis may have had a similar buyout clause for the remaining years on his deal so that the total payout by ownership in this whole affair isn’t what has been speculated publicly up to this point.
