why trade when you dont have to ? its dumb and a major beef i have with CDC . now if we simply signed CDC i would be a lot more reasonable . it would be dumb to trade for landry

what good is it to draft starters or develop are own if we are going to let them walk ? BB comes to mind , fuller another

I agree, and Fuller is an exception because of the AS deal, Breeland isn’t gone yet, we could still resign him yet.

But... I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. At some point you just have to realize what you’ve got. You can only develop and take a player so far. Some of them just aren’t legit NFL starters and never will be. Role players...ok, starting material, no. After 2-3 years, you likely have a good indication with what you have got in a player. Then, You have to cut bait and get better. All of these WRs this franchise has been drafting and toying around with the last 5 years... scrubs. Nearly all of them are straight up scrubs.

I’m with @Stymietee. Half of our starters are backups on most teams. A lot of our backups should probably be PS players. Just the reality of it. We are getting better but still have some holes.

I actually agree with you. It seems the Skins at times in recent years may actually hold onto players for too long in hopes that they develop. Niles Paul is a prime example. Yes hes a core special teamer and a good locker room guy but come on. The skins coverage team generally sucks and Paul is a ST standout for Skins but he isnt one across the league.

I think resigning Murphy, Breeland, and Long may be examples of this as well. I'm pretty back and forth on these 3. I'd like to resign them all if the price is right. Breeland may never be better then an average #2 CB who gets paid like a fringe CB1.... Long average guard/center who may get paid like an upper echelon starter, and Trent Murphy may be an edge setter 5-6 sack a season guy who gets a contract like Paul Kruger

Anyway I think this is a really good topic for the offseason and probably deserves its own thread.

None of those three should be back. Like you said they would be massive overpays for the talent. Ryan Anderson was drafted in the 2nd round last year to take the place of Murphy. Roullier our 5th round pick now has the staring Center job. There is a hole a LG but Long would be overpaid to be brought back. The LG position will be held by a rookie or a cheap vet FA. AS far as Breeland, he will get overpaid in FA. He is nothing special and wit the draft of Moreau last year in the 3rd round made him expendable.

i dont think TM or long will cost much despite what tandler says . and tandler is a career moron and more often then not he is flat wrong . long was injured and has had a history of injury so his price wont hit 8 mil and if it does then ok it will be on another team , one that he starts for dean , because no one will pay that for a stiff BU interior o/lineman that much per anum

TM is another guy who was hurt and we probably can get him on a one year deal cheap . his value is he is versatile . he can play OLB , seal the edge on the run , play de and DT in the pass game and he gets consistent pressure on the qb

nile paul cant block well enough to stay on the team and i think we all know sprinkle has passed him by . for a 6th round pick he has had a good career

chase roullier was a 6th round pick , not a 5th , and so far has done very well . i would keep long because roullier still has something to prove although so far so good
