We should give up Josh Doctson and Jonathan Allen for him. I think it is fair. Landry is established and Doctson and Allen are injury prone and suck. Let’s spend our money on another team’s PB.

dont forget... by trading for Landry it doesnt factor into the compensatory pick formula.

Skins PR team is banking on those compensatory picks to sell to fans next season when Cousins wins a SB with the Vikings and Alex Smith tosses under 20 TDs (all to TEs and RBs)

who cares that the skins are made up of players who are all suited to play in the slot minus Doctson.

Landry is a big name that sells jerseys, tickets, and hope. Even if he doesnt fit the need

Curious, how does he not fit a need? I mean... our receivers are not exactly a strength of the team.

No...probably not.

For the record last season we had 4 4th rounders starting

And that’s great. But for 4 we have starting you could probably 10 4th rounders we have drafted that didn’t amount to much more than tackling dummies in the PS. Just sayin’

Look, I value all draft picks, but the mid to late rounders are expendable given the situation and/or the player you are getting for it. JMHO

Classic Bruce/Snyder thinking. Good teams find good players with those 3rd 4th and 5th round picks.

Washington.... as per the usual is going to chase some one elses players because

Yes they have zero ability to scout and draft their own.

our starting center is a 6th rounder , ionman was a 5th rounder , late round picks matter . yes most fail but some do not

KC is going to be the highest paid player in the NFL , crowder is a borderline PB wr , petrine is a role guy , nicholson could be the best FS we have had since clark

look giving up a 4th , not the end of the world but its the mentality that leads to an old roster and even less talent . gruden's first year was spent trying to catch up . and right now we are a 500 team . we keep getting productive drafts we could contend for the playoffs regularly

But we can give up a fourth and pay a lot for a WR.

Redskins 2017 Receiving Leaders
1) Crowder - Slot
2) Ryan Grant - Slot, can play outside as well but much stronger in the slot.
3) Vernon Davis - Slot
4) Chris Thompson - when he splits out - Slot
5) Josh Doctson - average #2 type outside receiver
6) Jordan Reed - Slot

Jarvis Landry has ran more then 72% of his routes from the slot. Hes a better slot receiver then Crowder but its pretty clear the Skins need help on the outside more so then the inside.

I’m with you, and I’m not advocating we necessarily build this roster with FAs. Sometimes you just need to go get someone legit though, to fill a need. And sometimes you need to pay for it .
It’s nice to get role guys and borderline starters/depth guys, but sometimes you need to go get a player instead of continuing to think wishfully think that some 5th rounders are gonna somehow turn into all pros.

Here's my perspective, I continually evaluate my 22, if they can start for over 50% of the remaining teams, then they are keepers, if not it's time to get better. Starters, doesn't mean good, just that they are the best that we could get at the time.

This team is stocked to the gills with average NFL level guys, what's needed are more game changers. Finding them will be difficult considering weaknesses in our coaching tree here, but we should start drafting for starters, no matter the round . Projects are good to have, but to me that's for teams that can afford to have them. Our team is not one of those teams. In fact, I'm willing to bet right now, we have more projects than guys pushing for starting positions. We have to change that imbalance.
