Apparently we signed him today. Not sure if this is just a camp body, or we actually plan to carry three in the season. Interesting move.

Very interesting. McCoy is a quality backup up QB. Maybe there is a trade in the works for Cousins. There is no reason to keep 3 QB's.

I am not opposed to trading Cousins if the price is right. However, if you trade Kirk with the idea that McCoy would step in, that would be foolish. With the weapons this team has on offense, you at least have a real shot at the division. So basically you would be a tweaked RG3 knee away from your season essentially being over. If someone comes with a high second, might have to look at that. Other than that I keep him. Even if someone does offer a high second, I only trade him if I have someone better than McCoy as the #2.

There is no reason why they would sign McCoy unless there are already trade offers out there for Cousins. I don't see anything wrong with McCoy as the backup. I agree that a high to mid 2nd round pick is fair compensation for Cousins. If we get offered a 3rd, I would be hesitant.

Keep in mind that this is the deepest draft in years so a 3d round pick this year is like a 2nd round pick in other years. So I can see why the Redskins would trade him for a 3rd but I wouldn't like it personally. But I see the reasoning.

Dean, thats just not accurate. I guarantee you they don't have any real offers on Cousins yet. They sign colt for a variety of reasons. They need camp QBs. They need quality backups. We now have 2. If you remember, we signed pat white last year. He was a camp body. We also kept 2 backups on the roster.

Pat White is not even close to the talent that Colt McCoy is. Colt can win games in this league and is a quality #2 QB. If we were just looking to fill a roster spot for camp they would bring in a no name QB. Why pay the vet min which could be close to a 1 mil for a 3rd sting QB. I think something is up. Im am now on board for trading Cousins for a 2nd round pick b/c of this move.

Just throwing it out there. What if Houston offered their 3rd for either of them?? I get the feeling they want Clowney. But they also need a QB. Now I dont see them giving up the 33rd pick for Kirk or Colt. But the #1 in the 3rd round..... could be interesting.

That is NEVER going to happen this year. We will be lucky to get a 3rd round pick. The draft is flush with QBs. There are still quality QBs in FA. Picking up Colt has nothing to do with a pending trade for Cousins. I'll bet you right now we go into the season with both as backups.

Its a flexibility move just in cae some one makes an offer for Kirk. But carrying McCoy into the season has very little value unless you suspect Griffin wont last the season. We need at least 4 Qbs for training camp. We have 3 right now. NOt to sure we carry three into the season though.

I agree Shark why carry three QB's into the season. IF the Texans offered the first pick in the 3rd round I think you have to take it. Most likely it will be for Cousins b/c he is younger. If the Texans pass on Clowney they are crazy. There are a lot of Qb's in this draft jy19 but there are very few quality ones. That trade would be good for both teams.

RG3 must be on the trade block.

I do agree that having colt gives us flexibility to trade Kirk. But if a trade is to happen, it most likely comes after the draft when someone gets injured and all the sudden a team needs a QB. I just don't see it happening before the draft. If anyone wants to take a chance on a QB, there are still QBs out there in FA such as Kolb, Freeman and Flynn. Not the cream of the crop, I agree, but they are no more risky that Cousins and teams don't have to give up a draft pick to get them.

if we keep kirk i think we carry 2 qbs. if we trade kirk i think we carry 3 qbs because we dont know if they will be solid back ups.

If you are the Texans why wouldn't you trade your 3rd round pick for Cousins? This allows you to take the best defensive player in the draft and get a quality starter with your 2nd round pick. Kiper has the Texans taking Jimmy Garoppolo, at pick 33. Why???? Wouldn't you rather have Cousins who is proven and give up your 3rd? I think its a no brainer for the Texans.

no way we trade him for anything less then a 2nd rounder I would much rather keep him if RG3 ever gets hurt again

first pick in the 3rd round makes sense to me. its a deep draft. Houston is foolish not to do this.

Tough call....I think the Skins are just putting themselves in position for a phone call for Kirk.
Nothing is on the table, but with the draft coming soon, and teams not sure what will happen with QBs and high picks...you can count on the Browns and Raiders to do something strange.

The browns have Hoyer and the Raiders have Schaub. The Texans is the perfect fit for him.

I would actually approach Houston an offer Cousins for the 3rd round pick.
