I look at it this way: They offer it to him to see if he's sincere enough, if he declines it, then you have every right to throw the book at him because he's a knob for not at least accepting it

He can decline the face-to-face aspect and have it over the phone instead.

The CBA requires that the league give the player and his agent and any team representatives the opportunity to plead their case in person if they want to suspend for 5 or more.
