As it turns out.... K-State could afford to pay each of its players more than $200,000 a year.... :wtf2:

I think this is just for this past year, so the numbers could change dramatically. For instance, K-State is coming off a season in which the Men's Basketball team, Baseball team and Football team all won regular season conference titles. I'm sure that generated a lot of extra $$$ flow. Although, that Athletic Department is always pretty healthy. It would be interesting to see how steady these numbers are or how much they fluctuate.

One of the biggest problems with this is how do you distribute to all sports and have it be fair and even? I know a lot of people will say the Football and Basketball should get the most as they are the revenue sports but if a school dominates a particular sport that is non rev shoulndt that sport get more? Are you gonna tell me that Northwesterns Womens Lacrosse team isnt as deserving of money because they are non rev? National titles in 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 11 and 12 and runners up in 10. any other program in any sport have that kind of success?

And then I ask is this supposed to everyone paid equal? the star senior on top of the draft board with all the awards gets the same amount as the walkon freshman 8 deep on the depth chart?

Damn, that's surprising. What's the deal?

FSU has been losing money for years. They have horrible facilities and need a new stadium, as well as a practice field and weight room. Problem is nobody wants to pay for it.

This is why they explored getting out of the ACC, because of the emphasis on basketball instead of football.

Ah, I see. I haven't really kept up with that side of the sport, I just assumed they were doing well financially.

They should have come to the SEC when they had the chance.

In this day in age college athletes should be paid. Most of these big play schools are full of athletes that could give a fuck about school. I'm not saying crazy amounts, but there basically slaves to these schools and conferences. A free education means nothing to a kid who wants to play in the NFL or NBA.

Olyduck,

This spring Stanford's women tennis won their 17th National Title. They are to Women's Tennis what OK St is to men's wrestling. By the way, Stanford beat three SEC teams for the title: #4 Georgia, #1 Florida, and #3 TX AM. The loss by Florida cost them the Director's Cup and allowed Stanford to win its 19 consecutive Director's Cup. It also allowed Stanford to extend its record of 37 years with at least one National Championships.

37 years in a row with at least one National Championship! Stunning. That is absolutely stunning. I've got two Stanford grads in the company and they are both sharp as a rat turd. Very smart people. And the other Stanford grads I've worked with over the years were all intelligent. Some were a little weird but nobody was a dummy by any stretch of the imagination.

37 years. Kudos, Stanford.
