For someone more knowledgeable, how far away is Alfaro? 2 years? Wondering if we try and bridge AJ another couple of years or offer McCann 3-4. Thanks

About 3 years, offer mccann a 3 year deal and be done with it

Perfect. Filling COF spots ought to not take as much thought or capital as some would profess.

Stanton: .245 .364 .466 .829
Choo: .281 .416 .461 .877

Now... where do you think a rational GM might start?

Are you assuming Martin will no longer be our CFer? Asking because we have an abundance of CFers right now all what you would not call power hitters. Assuming we don't sign Cruz, we will be in the market for a COF power bat.

Has zip to do with whether Martin is CF. Has everything to do with the love affair some have for the guy in MIA whose acquisition would cost a bundle while another guy who will be a FA has better current production ... and ain't on the DL every other month.

Not saying they will ... but if TEX resigns Cruz ... I have no problem with Choo replacing Murphy and calling it a day. The CF situation will sort itself out.

Why are you reading bleacher report?
Ha, that's the truth, but a lot of times when they put rumors of trades out there, the comment section from the other fan bases can give you an idea of what they really think of their players. Before the season, I put one out there about Olt, Perez and Cruz for Ellsbury(FA to be) and Lester coming off a bad year. They were all for it LOL. That wouldn't have sucked

In the above scenario I would agree.

No doubt a plan B if we cannot trade for a bat.

I would contend it should be a plan A,

Choo (LF), Gentry/Beltre (CF), Martin (RF)

Maybe even consider Morales as a DH

Between Choo and Morales you replace Cruz's and Murphy's production

I guess I am looking at this from what we have lost since 2012 with regards to the offense. We lost a lot of power when Ham and Nap left the team. Ok, maybe AJ gets you close to losing Nap, not really and Berkman no way replaces Hamilton. As a side note, it is not a "Hamilton thing" with me. But we cannot ignore we lost a lot of power in the offseason.

Now Cruz could be gone for next year. So that means by 2014 opening day we have Ham, Nap and Cruz gone and Choo replaces none of them. We can discuss a slew of stats, but Choo and even Morales combined come nowhere close to the power of Ham, Nap and Cruz. We have to at least get one power COF bat and trading is I think our only option looking at the FA market this off season. We also have to remember AJ is a FA this winter as well. If we don't sign him that is another issue. Get McCann (probably signing with the Braves again) and we accomplish two things...getting a catcher and a guy that has in the past come close to the offensive numbers of Nelly.

So I am still thinking we have to get a bat and that bat should be close to a Cruz production and an OFer. If we can get a McCann at C and get Choo, that would be very nice.

I'm confused, is this season over?

:D

It appears that the Rangers have a chance tonight to move within 1 game of the A's.

Reds are up on Oakland 3-0 in the 9th.
