I'm confused, is this season over?

Nah, some of us are scoping out off season options. I guess today is tactical, the playoffs are the operational level and off season is strategic planning

I guess I am looking at this from what we have lost since 2012 with regards to the offense. We lost a lot of power when Ham and Nap left the team. Ok, maybe AJ gets you close to losing Nap, not really and Berkman no way replaces Hamilton. As a side note, it is not a "Hamilton thing" with me. But we cannot ignore we lost a lot of power in the offseason.
Now Cruz could be gone for next year. So that means by 2014 opening day we have Ham, Nap and Cruz gone and Choo replaces none of them. We can discuss a slew of stats, but Choo and even Morales combined come nowhere close to the power of Ham, Nap and Cruz. We have to at least get one power COF bat and trading is I think our only option looking at the FA market this off season. We also have to remember AJ is a FA this winter as well. If we don't sign him that is another issue. Get McCann (probably signing with the Braves again) and we accomplish two things...getting a catcher and a guy that has in the past come close to the offensive numbers of Nelly.
So I am still thinking we have to get a bat and that bat should be close to a Cruz production and an OFer. If we can get a McCann at C and get Choo, that would be very nice.

My point is, going all in for a "big" bat might not be the optimal move, it might be the sexy move, but maybe not the best move
I can contend that Choo would help us win as many games as Hamilton did
Yes I know its numbers, but in 2012 (we won't even discuss 2013 Hamilton), Hamilton with all his sexy homeruns was 3.7 WAR and Choo was 3.4, there is something to be said about that
Nelson Cruz this year 2.1 WAR and McCann 2.5 (both had bounceback years)
Napoli is at 2.2 and Martin at 2.1
All in all that balances out, its not sexy, b/c yeah chicks love the longball, but its not a downgrade
It appears that the Rangers have a chance tonight to move within 1 game of the A's.
Reds are up on Oakland 3-0 in the 9th.
Chicks like to win.
I forgot about McCann
But guys that provide better ABs, like Choo and McCann DO help equal out the losses of Hamilton, Cruz and
Just my opinion, but no need to replace HRs per say, this team would be much better off getting guys that produce productive ABs
The issue of Profar needs to be decided though, sitting on the bench doesn't work, unless the goal is to essentially let him be the DH, by putting him in there at 3B, 2B, and SS to give each of those guys a day off every week, That's what determines our offseason, what to do with Profar
Stanton is hurt too much, Bautista hasn't been healthy the last 2 years and his average has plummeted, no thanks to either of those guys
CarGo is another story
I get it, but I've grown tired of watching this team rely on the HR ball to score runs this year and in years past
I understand and don't disagree about relying on HR's, but I always thought it was a strange saying.
I forgot about that commercial.![]()
Heartbreaker. He's got guts & helped this team so much. Really hope to see him attempt another comeback after his hip surgery. Class act.
Heard on the radio that Lewis was in pain from his hip basically since he arrived back in Texas.
Lots of respect for Colby Lewis....a gamer
Yeah they've certainly talked about it at various times throughout it tenure here and you just knew he was a tough SOB, I've had hip problems in the last year and know how difficult it can make doing even simple tasks
That said, why wouldn't they have removed these spurs previously after his elbow surgery if they knew it was part of an ongoing problem? That's my only question
