Huge difference. One lived and was in CA most of her adult life and as of 2021 her job was in Maryland.
The other never lived in PA.

From her Wikipedia bio it seems she lived in CA for 12 years. At 44 I guess that’s a good chunk of her adult life, compared to zero.

Ummm she worked for the CA governors office for over a decade. Yeah that is most of her adult life at the age of 44 and no one stated she isn't in Maryland right now. She just moved there in the last year.

They are not hiding it, Newsom clearly stated she needs to re-register in CA as she moved to MD.

Nowhere and no one is hiding the fact she lives in MD today, but she was in CA politics for many years and still has a house there. Let's add she was a registered voter there until she moved.


Also, they aren't hiding the fact she is only an interim, nothing here is anywhere remotely similar to Hillary Clinton, Dr Oz or Hershel Walker who were brought in on name recognition to run for a seat. It is more similar to the likes of Kelly Loeffler (if and only if she decides to run for the Senate again). To be aware even with Loefller the similarities are only neither were born in the state they were appointed to fill the seat in. Where it is different Loeffler was never associated with GA politics outside of donating money and only had a house in GA after she purchased part of the WNBA basketball team whereas Butler lived and worked directly in CA politics.

It will only matter where she voted. If she voted in MD, then she is a resident of MD. If she voted absentee in CA from MD then she is a resident of CA. And you would hope Newsome was smart enough to vet that info out.

It is a little odd to take the steps to clean up the trail for no real reason but considering how nutjob right wing media will wharrgarbl the shit out of anything trying to make it an issue I kind of get it.
