Meanwhile I have a friend who was just in a meeting of a very large medical organization where once again he was told this will be a very tough year - maybe layoffs and closures. So even with super expensive (but very good) health care in this area - medical systems have trouble surviving and rely on fundraising and grants to provide some care and equipment. Sounds like this system is awesome!

Companies will have a hard time surviving when they only charge 300 bucks for an aspirin. Or, like in the case of my mother in law, 4500 bucks for a room the patient didn't use.

Maybe but that still isn't something you let slide. They're saying now that they can't shoot it down because debris etc. but when it entered NORAD airspace over the ocean at whatever point they could've.

And they're saying Biden was first made aware on Tuesday but up until a few hours ago his Secretary of State was scheduled to make a trip to China today and has now canceled? So what changed?

February 3, 2023 Suspected Chinese spy balloon flies over the US

The Pentagon said it is tracking a suspected Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon that has been making its way over the United States for several days.

Blinken postponed his trip to China this weekend because of the incident, saying the balloon created conditions that undermined the purpose of the trip which was to “build a floor under the relationship” and address a broad range of issues. Blinken said he told his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi that he would not travel to Beijing, according to a readout from State Department spokesperson Ned Price.

As to why they didn't shoot it down, who knows and who knows what type of data it is even collecting.
What we do know, it is causing issues with flights/flight patterns and more division in politics. So even if there is no surveillance equipment on that balloon it did its job of disruption.
