Won't mean must to trump (except his businesses), but I'm sure the IRS is listening and a few people are in for an uncomfortable audit.

The IRS are known anal probers

in north of the border tax news, CRA just won the right to dig through the big-box hardware customer files to see what contractors have been trying to fly under the radar.

a loooottttt of nervous home-depot customers right now.

When did you guys start learning heavily about history in school? I remember reading Anne Frank in the 4th grade but I don't think history really started getting taught to us in depth until the 7th grade beyond skimming over some major events. Probably different now but I don't think there's anything wrong with really getting into it around that age. It's not something kids really understand before that point anyway.
I remember watching the Louis Riel movie in grade 6 or 7, because there was a scene with boobs in it.

CRA is basically going hard after anything involving small-time construction right now.

Big developers are ok though.

As are execs who worked at Bombardier, SNC, Nortel, Blackberry or any department store that was ever Canadian owned & operated.

Anybody who's bought property with overseas money is A-OK too.

And, it goes without saying, any board members at the big five banks.

I had to click because this seems fucking insane at first but I'm not seeing any of the Confederate names before the 5th grade portion, the 5th grade portion almost entirely deals with slavery and the Civil War and the 6th grade portion moves onto WWII and post-war which gets into the Civil Rights Era.

None of the Confederate assholes are included in "celebratory" manner, at least in this summary. Both times Jeff Davis' name appears as subject matter alongside Frederick Douglass.

"describing how individuals influenced the course of the Civil War including Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, William Tecumseh Sherman, and Frederick Douglass;"

"describing major events and the roles of key leaders of the Civil War Era, with emphasis on Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, and Frederick Douglass;"

I honestly don’t remember but the town I went to school in had Klan rallies right down the street from the school. And it was a coal mining town. And the first minority I experienced in school wasn’t until I got to middle school.

What is even funnier that document if you read it, it clearly states in kindergarten they will learn about MLK day. :L

Jesus Christ.

And yeah, I did see that but I figure how much can you really teach a kindergartener about MLK Day, but then I also realize isn't that kind of the point of MLK Day?

I guess the point is there's only so much class time you can dedicate to history and while it's important for children to know the basics it's hard for them to understand them to a point where it makes any sense to go in depth.

In theory - Easier to get some house members to flip as opposed to some senators. Look at vote for speaker - 31 didn't vote for McCarthy.
Members of the house serve 2 year terms, and some are actually in very close districts despite the gerrymandering so if they want to stay in power they will need to stay on popular sides of certain issues. This election proved that you shouldn't fuck with things women and younger voters care about.

Senators stay in for 6 years and count on voters forgetting the shitty things they do by the time year 6 comes around.

Unfortunately, they are the ones that will need to lead the way on proposing legislation aimed at stopping gerrymandering. Which is as likely as me wearing a Jeff Carter Ravens jersey while attending a Sister Sledge concert in Dallas.

This was the case back in 2015 yet no Republicans had the cajones to speak up.

I think it's important to consider the area though and wonder how those individuals would be presented without strict guidance from the state.

I'm in Northern VA right now in fact and I've spent significant time in the last few days driving on the Lee Highway and the Stonewall Jackson Highway. They still issue Sons of Confederate Veterans license plates.

Left to their own devices, people around here aren't going to present Confederates in a neutral manner the way the curriculum might make it seem. They're going to glorify them.

We were shown a version of Romeo And Juliet in 5th grade that was boring as hell. Except for a sword fight and a very nice boob scene. I love the classics!
