Its frustrating to no end, and we know nothing will be done.
I was just talking to my mother and that frustrated me all over again. Shes 79 and a democrat but has been in community groups and revitalization committees her whole adult life. She has worked with democrat and republican politicians with success many times. Shes also is eternally optimistic (how she had me I have no idea) and so when I was talking to her she said how upset she was but thought maybe this time something will be done.

Side note: shes been around republicans her whole life and never had an issue but she is not used to MAGA republicans. She recently planned a community fundraiser which had issues last time it was held so on the sign up website she had them request in a nice way that perhaps leave politics at the door for a few hours. That filled her mailbox with stuff for a week. I asked what happened the last time it was held, she said there a few people with Trump flags as capes running around and getting into people faces. 50 and 60 year olds. Not a cult

I think 2 years of COVID where these things didn't have the opportunity to happen might have started healing out heads subliminally. We didn't have it thrust into our brains constantly so maybe there was a small sense of relief. Yeah, COVID, and lockdows and recession and all that sucked, but we were not constantly bombarded with reminders of how awful things can be. How awful people can be. How senseless it all is, and how so many people can be serious fucking cunts about it.

And then we open up and we're right back to the viciousness, the hatred, the hopelessness, the fear and knowing that no one is even slightly interested in fixing any of it. In a way, we're Mike Smith from last night. The problem is down there. I'm fine here- FUCK. We've been thwapped in the face with it after being able to breathe a bit.
