Is this a big deal? This feels like a big deal.

I mean, yeah people all over the Internet believe it and have been saying it, but as far as I know this is the first official of any government saying it.

I think it's important that it's a "conservative" official as well. The full on death cult MAGA, inbred, toothless, white nationalist Trump supporters will just call him deep state or globalist or some kind of racist dog whistle, but there are still a few people who may have voted for Trump because they were old-school conservatives. This might resonate with them. We can hope that maybe enough of this kind of thing can positively impact the mid-term elections, for a start.
