The steel may come from somewhere else (not sure about this). A lot of Canadian oil sands oil is upgraded and then used to make high grade plastics, eg. dashboards.

Of course we all know that this would not have an impact on a vehicle that is already made but maybe they're trying to defray future expenses.

Most likely it's greed though and taking advantage of those with more money than brains.

However, on a car that I would drive every day? Hell no. My FIL Once spent 70k on a Dually and used to give me crap about my "snooty" Audi that I paid 15k for. Which, I may add, I am still driving at 212k miles and his Truck died at 140k.
