Gut wrenching read. Social media and performative far right personalities helped turn a black kid into a white supremacist and school shooter by convincing him he was worthless. But some media company made lots of value for their shareholders, so it's all good.

There's a picture of this kid holding up his phone playing a youtube video with nazi images and giving a sig heil salute. He looks 14. Might be one of the worst photos in context I have seen in a while.

I'll say this as well - If Canada were to be annexed by America, this is one Canadian would would be looking to relocate - I hear New Zealand is pretty nice, surely I can find a little spot on that island nation.

It probably is a financial motivation. Being parts of these "socialist" groups that share info for "free" means that no one can enrich themselves off it.

I saw it as a possible motivator to leave WHO. The info will still get shared, but now someone can get in the middle and monetize it.

Someone can stand up a membership org of former members of the review board because cancer researchers aren't going to just stop researching and sharing their work. It's just now that wont be free through NIH. Privatization of all "socialist" services has always been a GOP dream.
