I see a lot of people (MAGA mainly) saying he's served previously in the military/national guard and that's fine, but I've worked with SAP for 30 years now, that's doesn't mean I have the experience or qualifications to be CEO.

Not that Hegseth is any kind of optimal choice but Canada is currently run by a drama teacher and his wedding party. Glass houses and whatnot.

Trump could at least picked a guy who played a high ranking military officer on TV or in films.

Secretary of Defense Dennis Quaid?

I work with a lot of retired military. Guys who spent anywhere from 4 to 20 years in, doing various roles but primarily cyber and counter-intel.

One guy retired from active duty and in his spare time is serving in the National Guard as a trainer. They do not have complimentary things to say about people whose entire service is all National Guard. They recognize and appreciate their contributions, but do not consider them "real military".

One of them leading the Pentagon has led to the casual chat at work going crazy. I can't imagine what the people on active duty right now are feeling.

As bad as that weekend warrior nom is, Huckabee as Ambassador to Israel is a bigger problem, IMO.

And end of times believer who said this:

Under his watch, there will be no such thing as a Palestinian.

How fucking insane is it that Marco Rubio as SoS is the most qualified choice?
Gaza was a part of Egypt, West Bank was Jordanian territory, the Golan Heights were Syrian.

Prior to Jewish migration to Palestine there wasn’t any actual ethnic identity akin to what we today consider Palestinians. It is absolutely a modern construct.

The other part that gets left out of comments like that though is that so is Zionism and both identities are forged around controlling the same piece of land.

Also that none of the countries I named above want anything at all to do with Palestinians being re-integrated into their nations at this point.

So yeah, great pick for that slot.

when I saw this I thought it was Sarah Huckabee that was ambassador. I actually swore in my office at work lol

his cabinet is absolute shit but he doesn't plan on governing anyway. its all a smoke show. he will golf badly more than he spends in international interaction and no country in the world will take the USA seriously (probably every again)

Also how sad is it that not simply rubber stamping everything Cheeto Benito wants can be considered "backbone"?

Wonder if they are going to show the same backbone with Trump's ridiculous cabinet picks?

There are reports that Leon Musk is not pleased because he was backing Rick Scott. Musk finding out that Trump eventually stabs everyone in the back.
