Horrible news

Needed to happen. Carroll is Seattle's best ever HC, but it was time. It was a good run. But there was WAY too much talent and money invested in that team for them to miss the playoffs this year. Last year... hey.. good job. This year? Nope.

I'd think that Harbaugh might be more interested than expected in the Seattle job b/c he'd get to play SF twice per year.

Kirby Smart is about to get another pay bump from Georgia with all these NFL openings! I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't go ahead and make his the highest paid college coach now.

Giants and DC Wink Martindale have "mutually" parted ways.

Most college coaches don't workout in the NFL. If i was an NFL GM I wouldn't waste my time on them. There are a few exceptions but look at most. Saban is a great college coach, mediocre NFL coach.

I think Harbaugh would probably dump a load in his khakis having to coach half his games in a stadium where Daddy Pete used to routinely bend his teams over.

Quin sucked as a head coach and that is why he got fired. Doing it again in Seattle will make him better the 2nd time around?
To say he sucked is a bit of an exaggeration, but this is a message board so I'm sure some folks here think anyone that isn't one of the best coaches ever sucks, so let's just move beyond that level of statement.

In the regular season, He was 43-42 in Atlanta with 3 playoff seasons including a SB berth. And He was 3-2 in the playoffs. He got fired b/c his last 2 full seasons in Atlanta were 7-9 and they got off to a slow start the next year. It was time for a change. In all honesty, his team went sharply downhill when Kyle Shanahan left to be the HC in SF and he couldn't ever get the offense going as well again.

Only a handful of coaches work out period, regardless of where they came from pros or college.

The best NFL coaches go through the NFL system. Andy Reid, Belichick, Shanahan, McVsy, Tomlin.

Quinn was coach of the Falcons from 2015-2020.

Go look at their draft history those years.

In 5 years that team had 3 good offensive picks total. And their picks on the defensive side of the ball wasnt a whole lot better.

It is one of the things that people have to start remembering in these coaching threads:
Coaches dont matter nearly as much as most people think. There has never been and never will be a coach in the history of the NFL that has taken a bad roster to the Super Bowl. The talent on the field is WAY more important than the talent on the sidelines.

So what is the best head coach job opening?

LA Chargers - have a QB, oldish roster
Seattle - stable franchise, you could build something here
Las Vegas - would be higher, but no QB and interim probably has the job
Atlanta - need a QB, plenty of talent on O at skill positions, could build something
Tennessee - age caught up with them in a hurry, unstable QB, not sure how stable franchise is
Washington - Might take a while to get over Snyder's disaster, stadium a mess, new owner might be ok
Carolina - For the 2025 1st pick in the NFL draft, I throw a drink in your face and fire my new coach after 8 games with no talent on the roster, it's the Carolina Panthers on the clock...sounds like a great time...if you're insane

I put them in my order, what's yours.

Do you think any more join the ranks of the unemployed? I don't, unless something really strange happens
