Being fake .500 essentially with the second worst goal differential in the league screams to me shitty goaltending rather than sack the coach. I would have canned the GM first.

Last time the B’s fired a coach he won the cup a year later.

In case anybody is hoping for a nice new coach bump.

I think Brunette knows to be in Trotz’s office tomorrow at 9.
Wonder what the deal is there? Brunette is a pretty solid coach. He handled the chaos after Q in Miami and moved the team forward.

And that roster in Nashville should have been a killer.

Some guesses

Flawed roster - Brunette wants an uptempo game but Trotz signs and keeps older slower players. Brunette doesn’t seem able to design a system to fit the roster.

Center/centre - O Reilly is the 1C and a long drop off from there

Room - how can a team with this many successful leaders act so disinterested and unmotivated?

Something is fundamentally wrong in Nashville. Players leave and seemingly improve. Duchene, Tomasino, Fabbro, Tolvanen, Sherwood and of course Olivier just off the top of my head. But it goes further. Last coach Hynes was run out of town and is doing just fine in Minny. There seems to be an air of complacency, dare I say a “country club” atmosphere?

Won’t be a quick or easy fix.

Trotz read too much into the win streak last year and decided not to follow the process. Could’ve traded Saros, signed maybe one of the guys he did sign, plug in a few low cost vets and given things another year before going balls to the wall with a higher cap and an energized, youthful squad.

Jumped the gun. They’ll give him a chance to fix things but I think it’s a very very short leash here despite who’s in charge because this could veer into San Jose 2022 territory pretty fast and I don’t think Trotz gets the chance to do that kind of rebuild now. At least he shouldn’t.
