Sure it does, a "consistent starter" is a pretty good way to measure a pick. But I don't mean to imply that those stats are the end all. Again they are measuring linebackers who became regular starters at some point in their careers and over half hit that level. But TM having only 2 seasons is not enough time to give a final grade on him.

But again to compare the pick with Redskins disastrous 2nd round picks of the past is a really dumb way to look at it.

Ok, it loaded this time. According to this, TM is a consistent starter at this point in his career, or borderline.

Yep again only year 3, we'll see.

Good posts guys. What rubbed me the wrong way about Tm was he didn't make an immediate impact as a rookie. Then they went and drafted PS with a high 2nd round pick. Clearly the Redskins did not think that high of TM by making that selection. Then when PS beat TM out last year I really started to sour on him. This last off season they asked TM not PS to move to DE to see if he can contribute. That is why at that time when JG was healthy I thought the organization just put TM on the back burner and I said that he could be a possible cut. When at DE in training camp he didnt impress and lost the starting De job to Reyes/Hood.

Then the injury to JG happened. Immediately, TM was moves back to OLB to have better depth at OLB. Then the season started and PS and RK have done absolutely shit so the coaches started to play TM more and TM has produced. Now people are busting my balls b/c TM is producing. There was no way in hell I or some other Redskins fans would of predicted this timeline when I wrote my original post.

There is my summary.

The problem Dean is you think you are 100% correct all the time. You call a player a bust in year 2 when I am giving you fact after fact that players need time to develop and that TM at every point has been ahead of where a typical 2nd is. Now he is actually playing well, exceeding all our expectations.

Your summary won't do you any good because you give TM zero credit for his play. You say his play is only a result of circumstance but it isn't. His play is because of his effort...his chance may be is because of circumstance...that never happens. Wait...it frequently happens.

I understand that but do you see where I was coming from?

I see where you were trying to go. But where you were coming from is the same place you have been coming from since Murphy was drafted. Unless he performs at an all pro level, you will always think some one else should have been the 2nd round pick in that particular draft. You have hated on Murphy from the moment we drafted him over Moses. Thats where you were coming from, you just tried to take an alternate route to get there this time.

I'm not quite sure about this, but I believe that Dean's entire argument has been would we be getting the same production out of him had he been a later round pick?.....Well....yeah absolutely!! We spent a second on the guy and Dean I believe, is merely asking the question is TM meeting the expectations that comes with a second round pick.

So let me ask the question that no one seems to be asking: First round picks are generally expected to come in and barring setbacks, start or be major contributors right away. How much difference are the expectations between that guy and the second round pick? (#47assuming early to mid second round status)

Dean, you're whole premise is based on a fallacy. And that is that PS was drafted because the franchise was not happy with TM. You fail time and again to understand that Scot does not draft for need, but takes best player available (take a look at our 1st round pick in the last draft as evidence). PS was the best player on the board at the time of the selection according to Scot's draft board. As for asking TM to move to DE and not PS, thats easy. PS's frame would never allow him to gain the size needed to play DE while TM was already naturally larger and could easily support more size.

in 35 career games he has 23 starts . he has 0 starts this year however based on what has happened on the field he should be starting

in year 3 he is performing as well as his peers have when they were drafted . i think you can make the case that 8 of the picks in that round have performed equal to or better then TM
