Clemson looks awful. As of right now, I can't even imagine GT losing to them. Especially since Wofford runs a similar O to ours.

The line on this game makes me think something may be up, though. After clemson's terrible performance, I would expect most of the money to be on Auburn. But Clemson opened as a 3 point fav?

im going to be honest. this is wierd but I have not seen one Clemson highlight this season, or even heard a mentioning of Clemson. It's weird because usually every pre-season and the first few weeks of the season Clemson is surrounded by a lot of hype.

LOL @ thinking you've seen anything but vanilla from either side of the ball so far. The goals of playing weaker non-conference opponents are to: a) win by whatever margin b) get younger, inexperienced guys reps c) not get injured d) not give away anything to allow "real" opponents to properly game plan. 14 points were the result of two busted coverages (Clemson had 3 of 4 starting DBs out the entire game) and the Wofford QB was 2 for 8 with 127 yards. The good thing for us is that we played just about as bad as we could have the first two games and still managed to win. Not that it's any excuse, but Wofford did win the Southern Conference last season and Troy has had something like 3 or 4 10 win seasons, so it's not like we played Utah State or anything...

Wofford shredded that D. It looked pretty bad. Clemson had to fight to win that one.

Yet they were held to field goals after halftime. Read what I said in the first post, we had 3 DBs out and the defensive scheme was pure vanilla. No blitzes, soft zone coverage, and second/third stringers that have few reps with the first team usually combine to give up a lot of yards.

Sounds like you're making an argument for Clemson to be in the Southern Conference.

LOL at Carolina having to rely on a defensive lineman to beat a 7-5 Jawja team... so much for that vaunted offensive firepower...

Actually, we relied on a 6-7 Georgia to fuck up. They did it very well.
Excellent game plan from the old ball coach.

By the way, what's with Carolina's defense this year? I figured they'd be a little stouter than what they've showed.

I agree, but surprisingly, Clemson is a 3 point favorite. Hard to believe.

After both teams have sucked wind against middling competition, Vegas doesn't want to lose more money and Auburn is due for a loss here in the next few weeks. I am a little surprised to not see it open at least as evens, but I never paid attention in stats anyway

:bored:

Part of it is the turnovers we're giving up, but not a big part. Looks to me like we just aren't in rhythm yet. We held UGA to a bunch of FG attempts early, which was good, but Gilmore is way overrated in the secondary. We're making big plays now, but I think we'll get a little better slowing down opponents in general as we progress.
Still, it looks like we're going to need the offense to win games. Fortunately they're putting up 50 a game so far.
