Could really be a boon if that were to happen and he could return as anything close to what he used to be as a player.

The Broncos are going to their 2nd Super Bowl without him, as he sits out another year

Yes, our OL needs help, but at this point, I'm not sure how much leverage Clady has, so I would think his willingness to restructure or take a pay cut is a foregone conclusion ..

He wasn't all that impressive the one year he did return ... still, if he's got something left and can be counted on ( a huge unknown ), then it might be worth a try

The thing is, if he's a threat to be in and out of the lineup, it's not like a RB going down when you simply plug in another guy .. Clady goes down again, and the entire line might need to be reshuffled

We need stability there

Getting Clady back at a reasonable price would be HUGE for this offense. LT would be set and then Denver can figure out where the rest of the guys fit and be able to put the the guys they keep in the right spots to get the most out of their talents. Such as Sambrillo at rt tackle. Getting Clady back will give Elway a lot more room to maneuver as far as the O-line is concerned. I truly hope it happens because Clady at 75% is way better than anything they have at LT IMO and I think Sambrillo can be much more effective and flourish at RT for Denver.

At a reduced rate and with the Broncos return to the ZBS (a scheme for which Clady was drafted) I think this may be worth considering. I think the Broncos would have a pretty solid O-line with Clady and Sambraillo returning from injury, but I'm not interested in bringing Clady back at the near $9 million cap hit he represents. If he is willing to cut that down to $6 million we may have something here.

I realize we are a week away from the Broncos 8th Super Bowl, but as the off season approaches and questions about the 2016 team materialize I can't help but be excited. So many have expected this team to slide off the football map once Manning retired. I think we saw a glimpse of what their future would be like though. With Oz as the starter the Broncos went 5-2. His numbers put him on pace for over 4,000 yards and ~24 TDs, 14 INT. Not overly prolific in today's NFL, but productive enough to be a reliable starter for any team, especially one with a defense as sensational as the Broncos.

I think it's safe to say Manning will retire after this season. That frees up $20 million on the cap. I suspect Ware will not be back, either a cap casualty or he'll retire. He's no spring chicken and though he still has some tread on the tires it wouldn't surprise me to see him call it a career, especially if he can end it with a Super Bowl win. If I'm right, that's another $10 million in cap space freed up. Then there's Clady. I believe is cap number is $8.9 million. I'm only interested in his restructure because of the team's return to the ZBS, otherwise I'd be willing to see him and the team part ways. Still, it may be safe to assume if he returns on a reduced contract the team will have freed up ~$3 million or so. That's well over $30 million in cap space to resign those players Elway has elected to retain. Unfortunately, that's still not enough to go around.

I love Danny T and Malik Jackson, but one of them isn't coming back. I suspect the Broncos tag Miller in the mean time. I suspect Jackson will be the bigger priority, but if it's one or the other I don't think either is a bad choice. I just think Jackson because Shane Ray can replace Ware and we can use Barrett in the middle to replace Danny T. He's a pretty versatile player and I think he'd thrive in the middle.

I really want to see them sign Oz because in my mind he's shown he can handle being the guy. Also let's not forget TE Jeff Heuerman will be available after missing his rookie season due to injury. He may be a crucial addition to next year's offense, to go alongside Owen Daniels (Davis won't be back and Green inexplicably just doesn't seem to be a big part of the offensive design so it may be safe to say he's gone next year). Of course WRs Thomas and Sanders are still #1 and 2, while Caldwell is likely gone. Latimer will be the #3 and Fowler and Norwood have shown themselves to be very capable depth at that position.

That leaves the RB position and I've already stated I'd like to see the Broncos pursue Alfred Morris of the Redskins in FA. This guy is a beast behind a ZBing O-line and could really be a big part of taking this offense to the next level.

I realize I strayed far from the topic of Clady restructuring. But really his contract could be a huge catalyst that makes the difference on the 2016 roster. I am not going to go out and say the 2016 Broncos are the automatic favorite to win the AFC West once again, but they will definitely be contenders to do so. I have a lot of confidence Elway will ensure the 2016 Broncos emerge from the off season a powerhouse once again. It will be an amazing season, and even better if they go it as defending champions.

Ryan Harris is our starting LT in the SUper Bowl. Clark was the starting LT in 2013. I would gladly take Clady back in a heart beat.

This definitely all depends on how much he is willing to restructure. I mean they wanted Manning to cut his pay over half this past off season. I could see though a somewhat similar deal where they cut it say down to $5 million but offer incentives like $2.5 million if he starts all 16 games. Another $2 million if he gets All-Pro for the year.

I'm also torn on I just don't know how much he has left. We saw last year when he did play that he just wasn't himself. Now from the sound of it he was still actually rehabbing from injury so wasn't quite ready for what the season brought but still when we just don't know what version we are getting from Clady and if he can actually last a season I just don't want us right back in the same situation where we have 2 3rd string guys playing those tackle positions.

With our current OL issues Ill take Clady back at the right price. Cdumler makes a good point the year before his injury he wasn't himself. I like to think hopefully a down year and a year out of football now makes him come back stronger, better and cheaper then the year before. :)

Is it me or does it feel like Clady hasn't played in like 3 years? Early injuries suck!

The year he was back (2014) I almost forgot that he was back from injury until he would miss a block and his name would be mentioned. I do hope that all of this time off has finally given his entire body the chance to heal up. I'm hoping him seeing the team make the Super Bowl both years he isn't the starter motivates him to want to get back to that old form. I'm also hoping that the ZBS will help get him back to that All-Pro we all knew and loved for so long. That is a lot of hoping though. Again I will take him back in a heart beat if the Contract is in line with what I am hoping they do. The fact that he said restructure instead of actual pay cut though leaves me to believe he still wants his entire $10 million but is willing to move around some of the money like Manning to incentives. Which hey is fine with me. If he plays like an All-Pro then I have no problem paying him the full amount of his money. I just highly doubt that is what we get though. Still nothing much on the market and well draft picks take time.

The part about him getting back to a ZBS is what gives me hope. He was drafted due to his fit in that and I think it makes sense for him to stay here knowing that's what he would be playing.

It just goes to show you - doctors have to make some very important decisions for the Broncos as they lay out the salary map for coming seasons.

Weren't there rumors of Beadles being on the outs? I think he would be a fine fit in the ZBS

Ware should, because he'll be on a pitch count. Will be used mostly in high-leverage spots: 3rd down & close-&-late. https://twitter.com/rhettrothberg/status/708851736572784640…

No deadline, other than final cuts. There isn't a roster guarantee on his deal like there was on DeMarcus Ware's

@MaseDenver when does Den need to make a decision on Clady before his '17 salary is paid? You know, restructure or cut wise?
