Pay the man! We need to lock this guy down as the #1 for the next 5 years. He's becoming Ace-like. :lock1:

I think he will be a true ace possibly as early as next season. Absolutely do what you have to to keep him. We need a rock in the starting rotation and he is just that.

I hope become a true ace as early right now lol! Look for Holland/Harrison to take the a big step next season health permitting. The Rangers truly have 3 very gifted southpaws. Now they just need to find that 5th guy to go along with AlexK. Hopefully Cobra has one more good stretch run in him this season.

He's got 0ER in his last 22 innings if I'm not mistaken. He's definitely on the right track. He finishes the season like this he could still get 18-19 wins and maybe drop that ERA below 3.

Yea, I hear you. If he cuts down on the walks and consistently pitches 7 or more innings (more so than this season), then he should be in the conversation next year.

I hope the crowd gave him a nice ovation on Sunday. He's pitched really well lately and he won't start again at home this season unless Texas makes the playoffs. And even then he may start on the road. If he's not re-signed, he may have made his last start for Texas in Arlington. Hope we can keep him, but not overpay him.

I would pay him up to about 22 mil a year.

I am for signing CJ. We lost out on Lee Last Year. Rangers can't afford to lose yheir Ace Pitcher Two Years in a Row.

re-signing CJ needs to be the team's #1 priority. they need to tell him that we'll beat any other offer by a million a year

Well, maybe not be that honest, but I get your point. Otherwise "the Nationals just offered $40mill a year" :)

Obviously there's a coyness to this game, but I JD and Nolan know how to play it. They will make it clear to CJ that they want him, but don't be just horribly surprised if they sign him for possibly less than 20 mil a year. Just sayin'.

TB would be totally opposed to paying him anything. TB's attitude was that once a player's contract expires the Rangers need to let him walk and bring up some kid to fill the spot.

we need to re-sign CJ period. no room for argument. we need to let Lewis walk and sign Darvish to replace him.

Darvish is way too much of a unproven commodity to throw the amount of money at that will be needed to sign him

I'm good with CJ, he's looking like the real deal, but I wouldn't go over 5 years

How high are yall on Holland? I have a lot of faith that he could be better than CJ in the future.

Darvish is suppose to be the best starting pitcher to ever come out of Japan.

i'd give CJ 5 years easy and would even go 6 and maybe 7

Holland has David Price type stuff. Better in my opinion actually. The kid has really turned a corner this year and I only expect him to get better. Holland has ace stuff if he can put it together, and Harrison is in my opinion a very very good number 2 guy.

I like the way our lefties line up with CJ, Harrison, and Holland. It's the righties we don't quite have figured out yet.

Given the number of innings on his arm I'd be willing to offer him 6 years. He has good enough stuff that when he loses velocity he's still going to be a good pitcher.

I don't know about $22 million a year for CJ. That's Cliff Lee money and as much as I like CJ, he's not quite Cliff Lee (yet). Weaver signed for a discount at $17 million a year. I don't expect to CJ give us such a discount at this point. Weaver > CJ, however, on the open FA market CJ will command more now based on supply and demand and since the Yankees will certainly look his way. Contract demands may depend on whether CJ is open to playing on the East Coast. If he limits his potential destinations to staying in Texas or going back to Cali (Cali :-|), then the Rangers should be in a good position to resign him. LAA and SD appear to the biggest threats. I'd start at the Weaver offer, and go as high as $19 million a year. The Rangers need to think about resigning Hamilton/Cruz at some point. I realize the new ownership team has deep pockets, a lucrative new TV deal, and a serious commitment to winning, but we can't give any one guy a ridiculous contract.
